These are the best versions I have seen yet. Are they really HD? I dunno, but it says so on youtube.

Over at the VHND, it says who ever filmed it only has 25 minutes of footage. The reeeeaal good stuff is a in the hands of VH. Mike Anthony said they used to film most of the shows for referencing just what in their stage show needed improving.

Not sure if it's true 1080p HD --- but it sure looks better than analog 480i or whatever the hell TV in the "old days" was resolutioned at. I watched a video from the Library of Congress and some archiving expert said 8mm film stock can be scanned up to 10,000 lines (depending on the original film camera used), but I find that hard to believe.
This stuff kinda pisses me off. We all know VH filmed a lot of their old concerts, and Mike Anthony has mentioned Noel Monk kept all the master film reels in his personal vault. Why isn't this shit being released to make some nice bank for Eddie Van Heineken? We all know he has no aversion to making money. What's the fucking deal? And don't be telling me Warner Bros. has the rights because they would've cashed in on this tasty stuff a long time ago.

Ed still has more flip flops and T-shirts to peddle before he thinks about giving us what we want...
He'd make a lot more $$$ selling the '81 Oakland show on Blu-ray at $19.99 --- but he's been a prick about it all these years so I'll just torrent all that shit when he or Wolfie does release it. Sometimes, I wish Ed would act like Gene Simmons and milk the fucking cow until it drops.
I always find it a head fuck why he doesn't just pimp the whole back catalogue and make a fucking fortune .

Depending on what he has, he could make some serious coin with well-mastered DVD's and Blu-rays.
Even if Ed doesnt have enough for a full-concert film, just copy the same idea as the Led Zep double-DVD from 2003 and stuff it full of short clips and backstage shenanigans that maybe we've seen before but only as a 3rd or 4th generation copy on YouTube. Most of us would easily pay $29.99 for something similar.
I remember seeing short snippets from the '78 Anaheim parachute gig in one of the Roth Shows. Dave might have a lot of this stuff hidden away, too.
That 1978 Fresno show was one week before I saw them in Seattle.
Note that the 1978 show was opening for Black Sabbath. You can see what Black Sabbath was up against.
That is the atomic blast I have been describing my entire life since then. Shit hot......molten muthafakking ass-kicking music.
I WANT AN UNEDITED DVD WITH NO WATERMARKS. Or better yet, a blu-ray.
The youtube stuff is a nice little advert for the real deal.

poor sabbath... =VH= was out for a kill back then and no one would follow them and survive...maybe except for the Stones who don't give a shit anyway...
their energy is so strong that you can still almost grab it from the youtubes. and these bastards knew it. at least Dave. "Look here motherfuckers, I'm going to rule the world and I know it..."

I saw this and thought, wow. Dave is neither jumping nor kicking. He was riding on pure swagger and STAYING IN HIS OWN VOCAL RANGE!!! It's like Yogi said, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

The guy that put these up is Smart!
He has them broken up just to make sure no one put them together and sell this Diamond! And as extra security breaks the videos into stills along with the live footage.

Ed is playing the snake guitar. He had a friend carve a guitar body and paint a dragon taking a bite of a snake. I've seen photos of Ed with the guitar but never saw him playing it live. To be honest. I like how Ed's old rig sounded. It might have been unreliable with amps blowing all the time but he just got a warmth that frankly the new amps just don't get. I guess the 5150 III series is a good compromise between high reliability and getting as close to the old tone as you realistically can get. That's done with increasing the gain in the preamp instead of just driving the power tubes and output transformer and 25 watt speakers cones full out. No way to make that reliable. You are just going to burn up transformers, speakers, and tubes. I remember Rudy Lerien saying he went on the road with a whole case of Drake transformers and the amps got new power tubes every week.

No kidding.. seeing Eddie playing this guitar is a little slice of history. I hope that whoever owns this footage releases a proper DVD to the fans.

These are cut up into clips because that is probably what they are.
And when there are still photos, it is because all that is available for that segment are still photos and audio.
Great thread. Sticky worthy...

I don't know about that?
So filming these shows from beginning to end you mean to tell me only 1-3mins of a song was filmed??
Did you see the end credits, I'm pretty sure he has these shows in their entirety. But the thing is he can't/won't release them because they are so rare and won't make any money off of them. Or on the other hand if he does he might be looking at some lawsuits from the VH camp?
Who really knows but him.
What were their normal set times then? 45 minutes? Seems to me that was about right....I would hope it is 25 minutes continuous....but it is not the full set.
Hope someday it all gets out. We have to make do with what we have since the sisters won't release any of their own footage.....
