I put my neck next to a strat..the strat has the same neck..22th fret neck to bridge was around 18,5cm. (12th to bridge 32cm).
I mounted the neck to piece of wood with bridge..same distance..
I get nice flageolet on 12th,5 en 7th position.
Am I good to go drill holes now..do the rest later with the saddles and neck screws?

I would find the centerline of the neck and body and drill and install the neck first...

And center punch your holes !!

            Copper is better...

But there's shielding paint as well...

Sounds like the scale of your guitar is 25.5". Insulated copper wire will work. I like to use either shielded wire or shield the whole control cavity and cover. If you don't have shielding you can pick up interference and get hums and even pick up radio signals through your guitar. I had one guitar I wired half assed and didn't shield and when I hit a certain chord and let it sustain, I would pick up a country western station and it would come through the speaker of the amp. LOL!
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!

Hi...I went to hell and back hahahahahah I measured from the 11th fret to bridge instead on 12th hahaha..i was stoned.(took me 14 hours to fix the problem..i almost gave up).
But i filled the holes..drilled again..scratched up my bridge but the guitar sounds great without electronics..doesn't go out of tune.
I drilled for electronics..i might have to fill the damage and paint the guitar a solid colour.

I might make big caps for the emgs to cover up the damgae of the pick up hole.
Now I'm gonna roll one and watch again how to install emgs kit.
                              Cheers!

Hey, I just did a perfect motorcycle tank paint job and after it was dry I found a big spot where I unknowingly rubbed it on a towel...
