Place holds 300 and it doesn't look full.

Finally Hagar's inexplicable run of luck ends and his career reaches where it should always have been...

Sesh do not be petty, that was a solid 300 people. He is bigger than Dave and as big as Van Halen after all he is the other half. The show was probably going to be in the Tokyo Dome but Sweetwater has much better acoustics so the move. You have to maintain quality and artistic integrity. Let that other half play those Tokyo Dome venues - suckers. Real artists know Sweetwater is where it is at. A legend in his prime. You can't contain a guy like Sammy in a dome, or even in airplane seat without a seat belt extender or two. You show em Sammy.

Just thought I'd mention that Sarge didn't agree with the "No Hagar in Main" unofficial policy that we've thrown around over the years....

He always felt that Hagar threads generated more discussion in Main, so he didn't have a problem with them....

As a fan of the first Montrose record, I will give credit where credit is due and say that was a pretty faithful rendition. For 66 years old, he approximated his 1974 recorded voice about as good as one possibly can. A very rare hats off to that whiny biatch.

It's been TEN FUCKING YEARS Sammy, let it the fuck go. Have a little goddamn class. Recognize your past without having to shit all over anyone that was a part of it. You say that David Lee Roth is an egotist, but your book basically confirms you're 10 times worse than him. It's always "I did everything, I caused Van Halen to have 4 #1 albums in a row, I am Montrose. Ronnie Montrose and Eddie Van Halen are always at fault, I'm always right."

I just don't care about that dude. He ain't fronting Van Halen, so the universe makes sense in that regard. Bottom line, he's out, Dave's in- a win for everybody!

The problem is, he simply can not get over that fact. Samantha Hagar is literally the epitome of a butthurt sore loser that blames everyone else when things don't go his way.

Kind of an exaggeration calling that a cheap shot. I know Sammy talks way too much shit about Dave and VH but what he said there isn't even newsworthy here. It was interesting that Sheehan was playing with Sammy but the comments he made were not cheap shots by any stretch.

I've never looked for a Hagar site online. I don't hate the guy like most of the other people here do but I don't idolize him either. If I found a site like this for Hagar fans I'd join up and talk shit about Hagar just to piss the other members off. I'll change my user name to dogcadaver to hide my secret identity.

No, it's not a Hagar site....

UFF stands for Up Front Fanatics, from Bette's song "Heavy Metal".....

It was a group of Hagarita fans at the Links during the early years, specifically around '99-'00.... This was pre-Army forums....

Back then we, the DLR-only crew, had our own little group there, about 25 of us, called EUAS, Eat Us and Smile..... Led by Brownie, Pojo, Conmee and a few others....

As you can imagine, things got nasty on a nightly basis.... Although in retrospect, it was quite harmless fun.....

Brett usually sided with UFF with those flame wars, and some of us got banned.... I think FORD is still banned in fact....

And eventually, since we felt we really weren't getting a fair shake over there, Sarge built this place up and added the forums you see here, and the rest is history.... Most of us left there and, with the exception of the rare post here and there, never returned.....

Memo to Sammy Hagar: You're 66 years old, you have you're health, had a successful career, beautiful wife and kids, and money you don't know what to do with. All of that and you still obsess with one guy that got the best of you. I mean bashing DLR in front of 300 people? Really? I've gone to weddings and funerals with that many people. Go fade into obscurity with you're money, family and what dignity you have left. I guess 20 years of singing someone elses songs in front of thousands of people is a bitter pill to swallow. There"s no shame in that Sammy. You actually filled that role well. I just had a problem when you thought you were more than that. You always wanted VH/DLR fans to make a choice, him or us. I was 18... I chose both, for a album or 2. The Balance tour is still to this day one of the worst concerts I ever went to, thank goodness I didn't pay for the ticket. It must also burn you're ass that DLR has done 2 successful Tours with Van Halen without having to ever sing one of you're VH era songs. Like I said, get over it and enjoy you're life. You have alot to be thankful for.

I get that Van Halen is a big deal... Duh.

But I've always wondered why Hagar's stint in VH seems to be more of a defining and relevant aspect of his career that always gets brought up??

Seriously... Montrose seems to be more of his defining legacy in rock history. Then his mediocre solo career that entertained the hoople-heads for years before and after VH... then add in his "super-group" crap as side dishes.

I just don't get it... what he did with Van Halen musically just hasn't stood up over time. It had it's brief time in the spot light and charts but none of it could be considered huge " Timeless classics" along side his Montrose work and even some of his sappy solo hits...

What is it that draws the media and simple minds back to the Van Hagar stint... the soap-opera and drama?

That there are people out there that actually prefer the Van Haggar era over CVH never ceases to amaze me. For instance: I have a co-worker that claims to love Van Halen - loves my stripey EVH mural in my Garage Majal. Loves my 6 (soon to be 7) framed =VH= albums. But asked me one day, "How come you don't have any of the Sammy albums up there?" To which I naturally replied, "That's not Van Halen." To which HE replied, "Oh, you're one of those..." To which I replied, "Dave or the grave, baby."

A line was drawn after that, and the dynamic of our friendship was never the same. I can't respect anyone that prefers Van Haggar music over the CVH era and ADKOT.

I can't respect anyone that prefers Van Haggar music over the CVH era and ADKOT.
and you know...he's a fucking cop!

It doesn't surprise me because the kind of people who got into Van Halen when Sammy was the lead singer don't really know any better. Most of the shit that passed as music during the MTV video era blew goats but that's what they got used to hearing. I grew up listening to Zep, Cream, Hendrix, The Doors and such. That's the music I still listen to. They like the music they grew up listening to. If you thought the Sammy era VH stuff was good you probably don't like the Dave era stuff because that's two entirely different critters.

In defence of Sheehan it was a charity show and he didn't actually bash Roth.

No. It's Sam's hair. I mean, come on, you gotta admit the guy had some awesome hair!

    Of course.

If you interviewed Ben Johnson it would be difficult not to mention him becoming a national disgrace in 1988 even though he had a bit of a career before and afterwards.

    It's the same with Hagar....

No one did. The only comment I heard about Dave was when he said something about Billy playing with "Diamond".

I know that's a joke but there's one thing about Sammy that makes some people like him. He gets out and about. He's constantly touring as a solo act or with a band and when he comes to town he gets on the radio and advertises himself. He doesn't spend all his time playing with his dog or hanging out in foriegn countries.

I wouldn't have a problem with Hagar if it wasn't for all the lying and bitching and general classlessness.

23 000 posts (help me!) and you won't find many if any complaining about Cherone.

I don't like his music but I also don't like 95% of music.

I don't waste time saying Justin Beiber is shit. Well not much time.
