Your view of America is tainted by what you see here on regular basis. It's true that they don't make movies or tv shows like that anymore but occaisonally they still put out something with a little humor in it. I watched the movie Dark Shadows this weekend. My mother used to watch that corny soap opera when I was a kid so I really wasn't expecting much out of the movie but I was pleasanttly surprised. It's actually very funny. It was more of a parody than it was a movie version of the show. Johhny Depp played Barnabas Collins as a man from another era that just happened to be a vampire not an evil undead blood sucker. He quotes Steve Miller as if he was quoting Shakespeare. He refers to Alice Cooper ( who makes a cameo appearance) as "that Cooper woman". I agree with you that it's sad the only people you can get away with making fun of anymore is straight white Christian males but at least they attempted to make this movie funny for a change. Horrible Bosses wasn't bad either but I doubt you'll see another movie as funny as Blazing Saddles or Animal House ever again.
