Not sure if it's a bit of confusion as Russia have downed at least one possibly two Ukrainian fighters in the last 24hrs .
Not saying they are similar planes just the word jet aeroplane could confuse .

The speculation is that Russians have been shooting into Ukrainian airspace and may have pulled the trigger on this one, from the air most likely...
CNN is reporting that the Pentagon believes that the Russians shot down a Ukrainian transport plane (an AN12, about the size of an airliner) on Monday from Russian airspace, again possibly from a fighter launching a missile...

Neutral means not taking sides. Maybe you better talk to someone from Donesk or Odessa. Let's start with firing on civilians. Firing on Ukrainian soldiers who refuse to fire on civilians and killing reporters.
Also Russia seems busy building it's foreign relations and focusing on it's new role in the BRICKS. What does it have to gain shooting down airliners over the Ukraine? It seems counter productive since people from the countries Russia is trying to build relations with might be on the plane.
