There are some arguments against the over prescription of statins in that if you are healthy taking them only reduces your chance of a heart attack by 0.5%.
So the argument then is that is that a big enough percentage to make it worth taking? If you have no side effects I would think yes but for some people no. It's possible there is some over prescribing of statins out there depending on your point of view.
This less than amazing preventative statistic has then been manipulated into some mad conspiracy theory as usual by people trying to sell supplements to gullible people.
On the statin thing find a good doctor and take their advice for your particular situation not a fucking internet snake oil salesman. There is nothing based on evidence that says lowering cholesterol for the average person is bad at all, the only thing under debate is just how good it is.
This thread is not about the logical, reasoned approach to using beneficial prescription drugs! It's about...hell I can't even remember what it's about.

There is no magic Medcine , it works on the people it works on and if you troll long enough you can prove most stuff wrong. More of a comment on the Internet than modern medicin but there you go.
