Apple Users Quietly Tell U2 To Go Fuck Themselves

Well, not really but this is funny as fuck:

    I love this line:
    "U2 had anticipated the criticism..."

Odd, since no one wanted this new steaming pile of dog shit to begin with. If Bono is betting on bad press to sell his nonsense I fail to see how. Bad press is one thing, but album after shitty, horrendous album is another. Shove your new record right up your shit shoot, Bono and then waddle with it in there like the egocentric buffoon you truly are.

I've been a U2 fan since 1980. And I have to sadly admit this album is disappointing me more than anything since "Pop". Hell, maybe even "Passengers" which wasn't even meant to be taken seriously.

I'd like to think this is all some fucking practical joke, and they put out this collection of rejected demos for the Hell of it, and the "real" album is still in the works. Because I would hate for U2 to go out on a crappy note like this

They peaked in '00, then embarked on a slow and steady decline on up through now IMO.

All That You Can't Leave Behind: 6 or 7 ok songs
How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb: 2 or 3 ok songs
No Line On The Horizon: 0 or 1 ok song
Songs Of Innocence: Joey Ramone is spinning in his grave

If this is the best they can do, then they should just pull a "Tattoo You" (or ADKOT??) and drag some old songs out of the vault and touch em up a bit.

Hell, what would "Street Mission" sound like in 2014? Better than anything currently on iTunes......

Tattoo You is still an album I play front to back and if U2 could pull that off! I'd buy it!

Cheap Trick's CD, The Latest (ironic title) was old stuff dusted off and new-afield. King's X did the same with Black Like Sunday. I probably mentioned that 2 years ago. Apologies if anyone cared to remember.

I fucking have always hated U2 and I hated that their steaming pile of shit showed up on my phone. Took such pleasure when they came out with the removal tool specifically because so many of us told them to shove their album up their faggy asses!

I liked U2 up to the Joshua Tree. They started to fall apart after Rattle and Hum. Rattle and Hum turned me off because U2 were trying to act American and failing hard at it. Hey Bono. You ain't black and you ain't from the Mississippi delta.

What happened after Rattle & Hum is that they had sort of a collective "panic attack".

The media had labeled them "The Band of the 80s". Which seems like high praise, but what happens when it's 1990?

The Beatles were the band of the 60s. In 1970 they were done.

Led Zeppelin was the band of the 70s. Bonzo's death in 1980 put an end to that.

U2 were determined to survive the "band of the decade" curse, and last beyond 1990, but they thought they had to completely remake themselves to do it. Bono's exact words at their last show of the decade, literally New Years Eve 1989 as the clock was striking midnight into 1990 was that they were going to "go away for a little while and dream it up all over again".

They struggled to make Achtung Baby be that "reinvention" album. I've got some 4 discs worth of demos from those sessions, and while a lot of it was potentially great material, very little of it actually ended up being on the album. Probably because it was good material, but it was what you would expect from them, and they wanted to go in a different direction.....

Here's one from those sessions that never got properly finished, but I thought had some serious potential....

This one was later released as a B-side called "Lady With the Spinning Head" with entirely different lyrics, but I like the "dueling Bonos" approach in this early version.....

there's also bits from "Ultraviolet" in here, and "Wake Up Dead Man", which would eventually end up on the "Pop" album.
