And yet still sounds better than Dave.

It's hard to believe this was once DLR but it's even harder to believe anyone is continuing to make excuses for him.
You make me ashamed that I grew up in Burlington, Ontario. You make me ashamed that I used to live on Lakeshore, right off Burloak...hanging at Burlington Mall...playing in the park off Brant Street.

But seriously...shut the hell up! It's a killer version. Have you ever listened to a VH boot? Dave is Dave. This is what Dave sounds like. It's nothing new. It's not some recent travesty. It's an epic live version...good guitar solo, really solid performance.

I'm not making excuses. It's sincere...

    Fuckin' sheep.

    UltimateClassicRock.com

They are currently running a poll of what is better, "Tokyo Dome" or "Right Here Not Now" (oops, I mean Right Now, the fact that it was redubbed in a studio usually confuses the title). I have a question. I really could give a rat's ass the result of the poll but who the hell runs this site? I have seen them in the past run multiple Hagar friendly write ups and these such polls to give him attention. It makes me think Eddie Trunk does this crap in his spare time since the videos of the full LPs to serve as a reference has the Tokyo Dome on drag with a unrealistic suggestion to set the speed properly which gets covered up by an advertisement when played on the site... drama about a replacement guy who has been gone for over a decade, whose music is not even played by Van Halen http://ultimateclassicrock.com/tokyo...ck=fbshare_top

I wouldn't say he gets a pass. I'll admit it, Paul has lost his voice. What is funny though, Paul goes out in makeup, spandex, and heels yet Dave managed to out camp him on Ellen

Has anybody heard any songs off this album played on the radio? I know a local DJ, and he told me they won't play the live songs, because they got blown up with negativity when they did play any of them. I hear a ton of VH played on Satellite, but NEVER once have I heard any of the live cuts.

Nope. My Spotify Van Halen channel plays the shit out of it though. I've heard the entire record now multiple times on Spotify.

Well... now that I've heard the entire live album, I can take a more objective view of it than some of the clips would indicate.

Seems that Dave's "vocal issues" are only on the songs that would be considered the "top 40" hits. "Jump", "Panama", and "Dance The Night Away". He also seems to have completely forgotten the lyrics to "I'll Wait". Too bad Eddie & Alex didn't forget how to play it. As for the rest of the album, it's about as good as what one could expect from a (mostly) 60 year old band.

So overall, good for what it is. Now bust out the goddamned archive releases already!

DLR would never agree to it 'cause "forgetting the fucking words" is part of his schtick, but geez, on some of those songs (I'll Wait, China Town) he should invest in a "Ozzy monitor".....

Paul is literally doing the worst thing possible for his voice right now. He's adding more difficult-to-sing songs into the setlist, songs that require more exertion and more high notes like Creatures of the Night. I'd rather that they would have kept it a Gene-heavy set like it was from 2012-2014, there Paul didn't have to exert his voice so badly and he actually for a while, sounded MUCH better.

    VH CD

The good parts are great and the bad parts are of little interest to me.

Kinda like when I have 2 or maybe 3 songs on a LP that I like more than the others I think this CD is NORMAL.

We have heard these songs 25 different ways what's with some of you all ?

It reminds me of my old stance on converting Black and White movies to color and all the discussion of what is best for the film historically.

Like these people who think the original movie is what they are converting...and it will never ever be black and white again...lol

We have the original studio versions..this new LP is just some more fuel for the flame...good stuff.

    Roth On!

With YouTube people know what they are going to get.

Going to a KI$$ or even Van Halen show at this point is a fully informed and consensual transaction.

Plus everything is better in real life with a few beers in the system than watching a YouTube video recorded on a smart phone...

Kiss is all about the experience. None of them are stellar at anything, they put on a Hell of a show (used to anyway) though.

I was a HUGE KISS fan in the '70's... Had posters all over my walls...

I think I've seen them 5 or 6 times, including in Milan, Italy in 1996 when 9 of us crammed in a van and drove all day from Naples to see them on their Reunion Tour....

I took my oldest son to their "Farewell Tour", which was 15 years ago...

I took my youngest son in 2004, and we got on their DVD for about two seconds....

And I give them mad props for lasting this long...

But their act needs to be put to rest, finally....

It's not like VH, where they still have the music to support them, albeit with degraded vocals as well....

With KISS, it's the same old, same old....

Gene breathes fire, Gene spits blood, Gene flies to the rafters, Paul flies to the platform, yadda, yadda, yadda....

And yeah, the fact that they still get somewhat respectable crowds in the U.S. is because the show is still the show....

KISS was great till, R&R OVER..for me. I was done but what Gene and those cats have done is unbelievable they have amassed more money ....it is useless repeating it all..///it's amazing.

With the make-up and the right approach others could play this music as a attraction "authorized by KISS management" forever.

    ..like freeking Star Wars....

I literally cannot remember the last time a radio DJ influenced my listening never mind my buying choices.

I've bought 2 albums in the last couple of months both based on comments here...

I'd agree - I don't think a DJ has ever influenced my choices. Music magazines were always far more important - the reviews section of Classic Rock is very good for finding new stuff.

That entire performance is an abortion. Paul sounds incredibly bad, but even the harmonies from the others are off key.

Gene is too busy hamming for the camera, and being the character. These guys have become a caricature of themselves.

Stanley could get by with slower songs, more nuanced, so he didn't have to "project" so much. Unfortunately, there are only about 4 songs in the entire KISS repertoire that allow for this to take effect.

Yeah, no shit...I got the same vibe off the guy the first time I saw him on tv. He simply had to have two guys around him, one to roll a joint for him (hands too clumsy) and another to pass him a diet Mountain Dew and a bag of Funyuns. And I'd be willing to bet he buys his "concert" T-shirts at J.C. Penney or Target, the phony-baloney.

Fuck this guy and the crippled horse he rode in on...

Maybe if there's a new item on the menu at Taco Bell, he'd be the one to go to for an informed opinion, otherwise Eddie Trunk is absolutely fucking worthless.
