I dunno. Says here, he worked off of a song from a previous film of Ninn's.
http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/edd...deo-available/
"The Van Halen songs in "Sacred Sin" are "Rise" (mp3) and "Catherine" (mp3), a remix of the theme from Ninn's 2005 movie of the same name.
"One of the things that Eddie really, really liked," Ninn said, "was the theme from 'Catherine'. He did a remix, it still carries the melody, but it's got a 'Kashmir' kind of feel to it now. A very, very powerful piece of music.”
The "Catherine" video is pretty depressing. Sweaty Eddie, by himself in the studio, playing all the instruments and noodling at the board.
This was at when he was at one of his lowest points personally. The video portrays him pretty much like he probably was at the time....a madman holed up in his studio, isolated from most folks due to his various addictions.

Store in France ..FNAC !!
Roth, and even Hagar have both stated in the past that writing a song with Edward, is Edward showing up with an odd assortment of cool sounds and assorted riffs but nothing that approaches a completed song. One of the reasons both versions of Van Halen sound so different, it is essentially Roth or Hagar constructing a coherent song out of Eddie's bits and pieces. I would think Edward's 'vault' is just a bunch of sounds the equivalent to ring tones and hardly songs lol

Ted Templeman / Don Landee connection there. Ted produced - and won a Grammy for - 'What a Fool Believes' by the Doobies, which is probably Michael McDonald's most famous tune ...
Has anyone heard 'Peg' by Steely Dan? He sings a pretty unique harmony on that - he voices every note of a chord, or something - like four or five voices schlocked together. Good stuff.
But, I think Dave was lacking inspiration with I'll Wait. He mentioned somewhere actually sitting in a room with Michael McDonald, who Ted roped in to try and help them get the tune finished.

Yeah it makes sense now. I made the Ted connection right away but tomorrow if you asked me tomorrow who was the singer for the Doobies, I will have forgotten hopefully.
I have always thought that as one of my go to songs on a juke box while out to prime some good times at the bar, one of my favorite Roth songs.
I think he does exceptional on it and perhaps, as Dave has said, a little controversy and tension can produce magic....

He's a singer songwriter... first known for his backing vocals on a lot of Steely Dan's biggest hits. Then in the mid 70's joined the Doobie brothers... best known for Minute by Minute and What a Fool Believes vocals in which he won Grammys. Lot of lesser known solo stuff after that.

Apparently the entire album is now available online, and Van Halen Radio is streaming it online all day today....
I don't know....
I fully realize that it's inevitable, so I'm not surprised that now that it's available online....
But I think it's completely fucked up for Van Halen Radio to be streaming it before the official release date....

I'm guessing that Van Halen Radio isn't 'official' in any way?
