Wow. Really? Call me naive, but I'd think they're past that what with a tour and new live album and appearances and whatnot. I do sorta feel that Ed and Dave might be outta touch with some things, but that Ed wants to play and sell guitars and equipment worldwide and enjoy pushing his son's career, not so much making masterpieces or new albums of original material that go platinum. (Or he would just keep going into that legendary vault with 500 albums worth of new material we've heard about.) But I don't seriously think he's giving Dave rope to hang himself with. I just think they're all jerky.

Ed was producing Wolfie's new album. Ed was giving that priority over Van Halen. I would love to know if Dave is even in the band. The Van Halens are son of a bitches when it comes to who gets what and I doubt they would make Dave a member. I bet they have him on the payroll as an employee. The money and fame must be worth it for Dave to stick around.

I don't think it's a lie. Didn't he make that remark a few years after VH III? He probably has 7 or 8 albums worth of him dicking around on piano and cello and skin flute that he figured people would want to hear, so he arrogantly exclaimed he had stock pile of material. I would take whatever Ed said after VH III with a huge grain of salt. That's when he began his downward slide into the bottle, meth, black teeth, samurai buns, flannel shirt-skirts, and threadbare shoes.

I actually don't mind parts of Catherine. The sustainer abuse, I do mind, however. I don't think he even wrote that tune. I think he was just jamming over an existing gothic porn soundtrack. Strange days indeed for that guy.
