Ya know, you were not kidding. First Barnes and Noble...no luck, even though it was listed on their website. Target, no dice. Finally, Best Buy. There, I DID get it for $13.99.
Found a weird Rolling Stones 2 CD, 1 DVD set from 1981, as well. It is a copy of that pay-per-view from all those years ago when Keef whacked a stage attacker with his guitar and kept on playing.

I bought this live album yesterday at Best Buy ( I couldn't even find it, I had to ask if they had it, the CD was buried on the bottom shelf with a couple of copies of remastered VH1 and 1984). This is on Long Island not Frogs Balls Arkansas. I thought it would be displayed on a endcap or something. I was dissapointed with that. Then I put it in my car stereo , hit play and then the real dissapointment set in. Holy shit. I cant believe that was the best they could produce. I love Dave with VH like the next person but damn! Like other people said I can scroll you tube and make a better CD myself. What the fuck were they thinking. Maybe when I'm driving to the Poconos tomorrow night to meet my family I'll turn the volume to stun and it will sound better. This has all the makings of a cash grab to me. I think I'll pass on the show when they come to Long Island in August. I'd hate to miss my younger sons tournament game for that. I hope 20 people rip my ass and tell me I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about. That may make me feel a little better. I haven't even read what other people are saying about this CD. I am not a music producer but the mixing is terrible. Dave has sounded alot better than on this recording. Ed is far from spot on. Maybe I was expecting too much. If this is the best they can come up with I am not impressed. I would be amazed if they sell 25,000 hard copies in the first week with the way it was displayed. It did come with lyrics on the inside sleeve. I think the Wolfie era is over. So is this rambling rant.
I listened to the album again last night in its entirety and understand more of what Sesh and some others have said.
Now it's very easy to pick this record apart and find the ugliness. God knows there's enough to go around.
As a document of the evening, a place in time, the album actually works . I don't think its going down in history as a classic or even particularly memorable album but it is honest and the band is pretty burning on much of it.
Eddies playing some really good EVH guitar on this and he really carries it musically. And I admit that I really like wolfgangs playing. He takes liberty with the recorded bass parts but does a great job of putting his thumbprint on the songs and makes it work.
Tha record isn't an abomination but Dave needs to work harder. This time, he's the weak musical link. He needs to study his 2007/2008 performances and adjust accordingly. If he can do that Van Halen can be mighty once again.
The thing I like best about it is it's just a recording of 4 people playing live.
That is so rare these days.
If you take it from 'The Cradle Will Rock' for 6 songs I think that is pretty damn good.
Being praised by Dave on the air AND being the "first official ADKOT owner".. Beats workin', huh???
Here's four people playing live...
I'm ready...

I walked past the new album in Walmart yesterday...
Mentioned this in the St. Louis show thread 'cause I was on a roll . I guess it's much more appropriate here so , here goes : After scoring my tickets this morning I went to 4 ( ! ) different stores till I found the new Live CD . Best Buy - nope , Wal-Mart nada . K-Mart not happening ( I didn't know they no longer sell CD's , whodathunkit ? ) , Target - Bingo ! Not exactly top notch distribution .
While reading the liner notes , I couldn't help but notice that a certain Mr. Anthony only got one song writing credit for " I'll Wait " . Hhhmmm , most interesting . At the same time I noticed that of all people , the king of all things bland Michael McDonald also got credit for " I'll Wait " . Once again , most interesting .
Listened to most of the first CD while taking the long way home . Eddie's on fire , Uncle Al and his Wolfiness are humming right along , Dave's vocals are not so happening in places but he carries the tunes well and visually we all know he is most entertaining . I like the song selection , it covers the classic albums fairly well . Not bad for my hard-earned 15 bux .
I'm still not buying Tokyo. If a DVD were included I may have bitten on it.
