Really wish side "last" was studio stuff. Really hope they touch up the vocals because while Dave was Diamonds in 2007-2008 he had some troubles in 2012-2013

I have no doubt they touched up the vocals... I just hope it's not over-the-top overdub style..

My opinion is that the PRESS RELEASE is what is the hoax not the CD. It took that DJ a few hours to post it online when he was answering questions almost immediately.

    GET READY!

    To be thoroughly disappointed!

Grate! I can spend 80 bucks on something I've already seen multi-camera in HD with audio remastered by Cato!

Oh, I'm not buying this cash grab!

I'm disappointed because as a life long fan of CVH, I want new music. I loved ADKOT and know they have a few more grate albums in them.

Not a remaster of the 6 pack that I already bought once or a live album with a set list that I've already seen live and in person.

Or a Tokyo show that I've seen in HD!

Part of me thinks they're shitting out this "live CD" to fulfill a record company obligation, and that this is VH's swan song. Maybe I'm giving the Brothers too much credit. In eight years, they've tried touring twice, and got Wolf in on some ASCAP gravy with a CD of retreads.

I honestly think this is it for me. I waited TWENTY FUCKING YEARS to see someone I hold in a very high regard take his rightful place back in one of my fave bands growing up. And I feel like they have squandered the last eight years. At least one more studio CD should have been put out. It's depressing.

Look bro... our heroes age, just like you and me. Fer fucks sake, at my age, I can get injured while sleeping. I pitch like old people fuck.

Let us face it, as good as it was, ADKOT was a bunch of stuff we already knew. And THAT is the point, the VH we have all adored existed in the PAST.

Yeah, it's like your favorite bike, lawnmower or car giving up the ghost, yet it happens.

I still have Hope and Faith

I hear ya, brother! There's enough old demos that they could of cobbled something together as good as ADKOT and I'd be happy as fuck!

A swan song is inevitable for any band and they've been retreading the original demos on almost every album.

I'd be happy with that and possibly be inspired that I can still be playing and creating at their age!

I have to say, this is foreign territory for me.. we have what seems to be VH news and I'm not excited about it at all. It's like Charlie Brown and that goddamn football. Sure I'll go see them as many times as I can on the upcoming tour, but if this is the release I'll pass.

Just to clarify for the completist are people being asked to do the following...?

Buy the Van Halen 1 LP
    Buy the CD
    Buy the Remasters
Buy The Best Of – Volume I
Buy The Best of Both Worlds
Buy the mp3 versions or on iTunes
Buy the 2013 The Studio Albums Boxset
    Buy the new remasters
Buy the new remasters on vinyl

When Eddie sits complaining about torrents if a fan asks "Ok I've now bought Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love from you 7 times, can you blame me if I'm tempted to torrent #8?"

    Good Lord...

After listening to some of this and watching some of the video, I'm hoping they just take the studio versions of all those songs, and throw some crowd noise in. Just tell us it's from the Tokyo Dome. We'll believe them. We've believed all their other bullshit all these years.

It's painful, isn't it? I find myself cringing constantly.

Should have just said "live" and pulled various sources then doctored it up.

Dave was great in 2007-2008 but he started doing something on the 2012 tour that does not work.

This is the "great Van Halen project" Dave talked about??????

They could have sold this 20 minutes after recording it in the lobby and sold it on Instant Live's website.

Ed thinks that is the greatest sounding album ever. That's why he's doing another remaster of the 6 pack. He wants them to sound as good as ADKOT!

VHND has a forum? Save those posts!

They may realize the album won't sell much in today's climate, but I don't think they have a clue how this is going to affect ticket sales for the live shows.

Good to see you here again hain!

You are correct! They would have sold more copies by doing it that way, than they will doing it this way.

I honestly think this is it for me. I waited TWENTY FUCKING YEARS to see someone I hold in a very high regard take his rightful place back in one of my fave bands growing up. And I feel like they have squandered the last eight years. At least one more studio CD should have been put out. It's depressing.
There is no contract obligations with record companies for VH to fill... BOBW filled the final option with WB in 2004. ADKOT with Interscope was a One-n-Done deal for distribution and half-assed marketing.

Don't know what happened to the DVD deal that had when they recorded at MSG on the 2007/8 tour... That would have been the best next release IMO. Can only guess someone didn't like what they captured.

My speculation is they planned this and recorded in Tokyo... Took 2014 off and farted around getting this package together and working with WB/Rhino on a remasters refresh with plans for a limited tour this year.

Unfortunately with all the negative crap spewing across the net right now... It wouldn't surprise me a bit if Ed & Al just said fuck it and pulled the plug on everything... They can't win because they fucked up and wasted too damn much time thumbing their noses and pissing off their fan base.

They ENCOURAGED bootlegging of the last tour. WHY would they try to sell us what they told us to take for free?

Because they have no idea what the fuck they are doing. They have zero direction.

These guys are so fucking stupid, they probably really believe this is going to be their Double Live Gonzo. Their Alive II. Their Comes Alive. Their Budokan.

Dave seems to be typical of the highly intelligent types. Not a lick of common fucking sense.

    We know who.

Plus to be fair releasing from 07-08 now wouldn't have allowed for stuff from ADKOT.

Reading the comments on the internet from fans it feels like that cover painting should be called 'View from an iceberg'...

I bet I could make them win Zah. But they'd have to bust their balls. Well, as much as doing a media tour, and other things the right way, would be busting balls. I could turn this fan base on its fucking head. Any number of us could do that. But they would have to put their pride, and their ignorance aside. They would have to hear some things they don't want to hear, or can't seem to accept. There are ways to do the right things, they just aren't interested in doing them.

What is Ed's motivation behind this?
What is Dave's motivation behind this?
What is Al's motivation behind this?

Wolf? He's just sitting back collecting dough at this point. I gotta believe he is much happier in, and with, Tremonti at this point in his musical career. I'm sure he loves getting on stage with his Dad and Uncle, and playing those great songs. But let's be real. It's not doing shit for his creativity.

As someone at VHND said, Van Halen is a project not a band these days and that's up to them they're getting old but Roth should be able to release and tour solo projects.

Speaking of VHND, looks like Jeff finally got the go-ahead....

There are 200+ comments there, it would be interesting to do a count of how many were positive and how many negative...

I've never followed DLR on Twitter, visited his youtube channel or his site. I have to assume some if not all have a comments feature, yes? I'm thinking going "black" was his way of getting ahead of the backlash because he knew this would go over like a fart in church.
