The Power Of The Riff Compels Me
.....
Possibly the US Festival. Same year as Van Halen, but different day. I'm guessing they played on the punk/new wave day where The Clash headlined.
Pulled up a clip from that show and Chrissie was a bloody mess who looked like she just wrestled with a grizzly bear or something.

Damn, I don't think I've heard this song in 30 years. This band really should have been bigger. They were better than all the synth-pop crap. Sort of like a Byrds/Rush hybrid or something.....
This band soon changed their name and their entire sound, and went on to have some hits (but never got as big as they deserved to)
Anybody recognize them?
The alarm
fuck your fucking framing
Yep, it's them. Of course that picture in the clip probably gave it away, if Mike Peters' voice wasn't obvious enough.
Unless you lived in Cascadia at the time, you probably never heard of this one. But it was a big hit around here....
And right around the same time, up the road in Vancouver, this was happening.....
BTW, the blonde chick dancing in that video had her own band. They were apparently trying to be the Canadian Ramones, or something....
I like this song.
Does it make me GAY or GHEY... or both?

I prefer Der Kommissar Falco´s original version to this cover, though I would have loved to sing this with my father:
She was singin'
Don't turn around, uh-oh
Der Kommissar's in town, uh-oh
You're in his eye
And you'll know why
The more you live
The faster you will die
How about this gem on early MTV that never charted on Billboard...
Here's a classic!
CHARLIE!!!!
Blue Angel - featuring Cyndi Lauper (before her hair got weird)
Annie Lennox & Dave Stewart - before they became the synth-pop Eurhythmics.....
For those of you who never heard anything from these guys other than "I Don't Like Mondays".......
it's the mid 80's and Mick & Keef are openly bitching at each other in the press and refusing to play together. So what do you do if you're the other three members of the Stones? Call up a couple other guys whose band also just split up and sing some crazy 50s retro stuff.......
Best song ever...

The vinyl album was "laser-etched" in limited edition. It sorta looked like the cover of Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon, and seemed somewhat cool as it spun around on your record player. Given that, you pretty much needed to be so stoned that you could barely focus on anything else.
By the way, this is a terrific, albeit strange, thread.
I used to have the album. Somebody stole the damn thing. And if I ever find out who it was, Satan will be their new landlord.
