There are a lot of "lame ass agenda driven bullshit shows" on TV, but I don't think "Castle" really fits that one. Other than him being a writer and not an actual cop, it's the standard TV cop show formula.
Most murder mystery shows these days have this formula of the tough, alpha female cop who happens to be in a haphazard relationship with a male savant with some sort of unique insight into the specifics of a crime: Elementary; Sleepy Hollow, Forever. Could be what's "in" when it comes to TV these days. Not that I mind such shows.
