I went to the show, and loved it. Traveled almost 200 miles to get there, then another to get home. Add in a 90 minute ferry both ways, and ya get my point. I've put on a lot of miles for this band's music, and I'll do it all over again. I'm a happier guy when they're my soundtrack, and I gotta say they had me from the start of 'Light Up The Sky' last night. It was hotter than hell, and quite fitting for a summertime Van Halen show. Dave didn't mess up too many lyrics, and all-in-all was fun to watch. As I said in my post prior to the show; you won't hear any complaints from me as I'm happy that I had another chance to see Dave & the brothers. The set list was wonderful, (as many of you have noticed), and had my brain tripping down memory lane all through out the concert, and damn near brought a tear to my eye during 'Feel Your Love Tonight'. They all looked great and appeared to be having a good time... along with me and a ton of other people. I had too many favorite moments to name. I heard the morning guys from KISM cranking 'Drop Dead Legs' from last night's gig on their program this morning. An absolutely Vantastic way to end my July 4th weekend!

I don't want to spend the day telling you all what a date with a woman is the planning the talking the getting things done to make it happen the concert is the 5th or 6th thing we will do that night a concert is part of the night.

I feel sorry for you cunts who have nothing else.

I can see your complaints to bad you can't work something else into your day.....it doesn't matter what the band sounds or looks like...get it....it's all about what ..YOU are doing.....

If you only knew something else to talk about...be somebody else perhaps....?

If that was his "A" game last night...

Something drastic needs to change before Van Halen the band's credibility is lost.

"Dirty Movies" and "Light Up The Sky" are right in his wheelhouse vocally. I'm sorry, but that was unlistenable.

I still think DLR in his prime is one of the greatest frontmen in rock. And that 1978/1984 produced six of my favorite albums.

I'm sorry, but I can't get on this train.

Well kind of but I do think that this is the third tour now and they repeatedly have put a lot less $ and thought into that similar acts.

Who else at that level just wanders onto the stage at the start of an arena show?

Start watching this at 10 minutes as Ed works out a way to get across to Wolf.

I don't think you need to be an expert in body language psychology here...

Like I've said, going to a VH show is always a good time.

But as far as what people heard via youtube? Remember last tour when people kept saying "you can't judge what Dave sounds like from a youtube video!!" And then the live record came out...and it sounded exactly like the youtubes only clearer.

I'm hoping Dave's gonna get in shape vocally over the first few shows. There were plenty of good moments in the videos I've seen so far, plenty of clunkers too. But it is the first show, after all. The damn band sounds incredible.

Excellent comments, you disrespect the show you weren't, at..... then remind us of your (the) credibility, of your ability to make that comment by stating for us all; to see and know about you, how much you like some studio albums from 30 years ago.

All the while advertising a golf club manufacturer on a baseball cap, image, in you AV, that I am sure your aren't being paid for.

So what should we know, you are a great golfer and thus you must let us know that you have a golf club manufacturer on a hat....are you more interesting than the people you want to see that ?

Thanks for your interesting comments: that let us know you do not enjoy VH but have a CD or two that you do like...nice!

I've seen Van Halen live twice. Once in early 79 and at the US Festival in 83. People have been telling me how fucked up and sloppy they were at the US every since I joined this site but I don't remember it that way. The long wait before they hit the stage sucked but once they got there they kicked ass. As I've said before you can't fully guage a live performance if you're not there. I'm gonna do my damndest to make it to one last VH concert even if I have to stroll in in a fuckin' wheelchair.

First night nerves or more likely I think under rehearsed as a band for whatever reason.

It's rock n roll not boxing so they will get away with it.

Come on Sesh. It has nothing to do with YouTube videos from phones. The difference is, being there. It's a much better all around experience being there. Much easier to get caught up in the moment, drift back to the good old days, and have a good time.

True. Ed does seem to get out of there as soon as Dave goes over though.

    Could be a coincidence.

I don't disagree and in the same way if you are at a show and Dave makes a mistake then you are not going to

Again we have the American Idol YouTubers comparing mimed music with live rock n roll music. This is not a Rachmaninoff concerto.

That said I think they look under rehearsed.

What? What the fuck is that?

Dave is definitely under rehearsed. Good thing he doesn't care about charging those poor saps going to the early shows, big bucks to see him rehearse! Maybe by the end of the tour he'll be in top form.

Dave seems like he is just going through the motions. He used to seem really fired up to perform this music. Now it looks like it's a job to him.

As evidenced by the rehearsal photos...who wasn't in them? See how Dave does, timing-wise, remembering lyrics etc a few shows in. Don't look for the jazz hands and slip and slide routine to go away though.

Stage looks small. Like Al is closer to the edge of the stage. I wonder if that's just the venue.

As the hugest DLR dicksuck in the history of the Internet, I'll even say I've had it with his slip 'n slide thing and now those goddamn bowling shoes. What the fuck? That fucking Electric Boogaloo thing is 10-times bigger than it was last time. How the fuck will the rest of the band move around without hurting themselves? That fuckin thing should have some cones or signs on it, Ed's on a new hip for Christ's sake. Isn't there a civic law about that stuff? That sliding around shit was cool at first but I'm tired of it. Next thing you know the son of a bitch is going to take the stage in ice skates.

I bet you have a ticket to see the VH tour.

After spending the last year spewing your dislike for this band commenting on all the press and then stating how you won't see a tour show.

PS. I never make any sense..I am only here for you to comment about other posters comments about me, that makes perfect sense.

My first VH concert was actually a way better experience. VH played the second night of a two day show. It was crowded but it wasn't impossible to move around like it is as some of the other larger festivals I've been too. I think they were considered a co headliner that day with Aerosmith. The first day it was Ted Nugent and Cheap Trick. The two bands that impressed me most were VH and Trick. Here's a video that'll give you an idea about the atmosphere but the music was dubbed in later.
