But that is all smoke and mirrors. I would LOVE to sell you a car, lol.
After 3 or 4 years in a lease the car is worth pretty much exactly whatever the residual is on the car if you negotiated the deal properly.
Not sure how anything can be better than that...you can pay what the asset is worth or walk away by handing over the keys
If you buy it, and you hate it you are in exactly the same boat but have to get 75 cents on the dollar at the dealer if you are lucky and likely get hosed in the process. All you have done is taken ownership of the massive depreciation in value in the first two years....all because somehow people think they "own" it and that is better
Its all math.

The way they trick you is you think the new truck is worth 40k...when in actual fact if you just took the time to negotiate properly could get it for 32....when you trade in your last vehicle they do you a "solid" by giving you 15k for your old truck when its probably worth 19, but ask the manager for a special discount just for you, so you get the new truck for Dealer cost at 37k...you just lost 9k but you feel like you got one over on them.
Too many words and too much math.

Why I would never, ever buy a car new. Does not matter who makes it. Leasing does have it drawbacks like staying under certain mileage and "mandatory maintenance" but seeing how most cars being made today are more disposable than a Katy Perry tampon, I found leasing to be more affordable than buying.

No, no, no.
Ed needs to cut the umbilical cord of guilt with Dave.
That's numero 1
Ed needs to hire KATY PERRY as the new singer of Van Halen which is no biggie since Van Halen has not been Van Halen since yes, you guessed it 1985
Number 3 is a new album with Katy doing songs about anything from F A T Wolf Boy to kissing girls and pussy. Who really cares? Not like Dave lyrically wrote anything worth a shit so no issue there.
THEN A TOUR! A god damn proper tour with dancing sharks and lions and Illuminati symbols
Van Katy plays the next NFL/domestic violence/wife beaters Superbowl.
Ed calls it a day.
I could live with that.
So why can't you cretins?
WARF (06-17-2015)
Oh, and Ed gets to beat the shit out of John Mayer.
Ok...let's dumb it down...if the dealer isn't saying no to your price, then you are being had.
Always walk away, leave the lot and don't sit down for the hours long "I have to ask my manager".
The last car I bought the only time I was at the dealer was to grab my vehicle...basically put out an RFP of sorts to all of the dealerships within an hour of me and let the sharks come to me...
Fuck it..my 2 cents..leasing is ok if you always want a payment and a different car..I had ( and still do have ) my last car for 13 years..its been paid off for 8..runs great..no payments gave me time to save up a down payment for a new car..which will be paid off in 6 years..no more payments..

Which is also great if you are on a budget. I would not say a 2014 Malibu is great car but it does function as means to get from point A to point B and back again. That's all I need it for. Usually on warmer weather days, I bike and/or take Light Rail where I need to go. Owning a car anymore is a royal pain in the ass.

It might be missing the "high maintenance," "all talk," and "cold fish" buttons.
Looks cool!

Rolling Stone magazine likes Red Rocks.

Rolling Stone magazine has ruled the best amphitheater in the United States is Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison.
The list will be released Friday, but Washington, D.C., radio station WTOP got an advance copy and reported which venues made the cut. Red Rocks was judged to be better than even New York's Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl, which were Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.
Rolling Stone has an ongoing "Venues That Rock" series and so far has determined which are the best clubs in America, and which are the best big rooms. Belly Up in Aspen, the Bluebird Theatre in Denver and the Fox Theater in Boulder are included in the list of the best clubs.

This dramatic natural venue just outside Denver – named after the two huge boulders that frame its borders – can elevate a good show into a totally unforgettable night. With the exception of Madison Square Garden, no U.S. venue of this size has such an amazing pedigree: The Beatles in 1964, Jimi Hendrix in 1968, Bruce Springsteen in 1978, and so many more. Pearl Jam played Red Rocks exactly once, in 1995, and they still haven't stopped talking about it. "It was just stunning," says guitarist Mike McCready. "We were never able to get there [again]. I don't know why. I want to go back."
Capacity: 9,450

Fun Fact: The amphitheatre has been officially open since 1941, but the first Red Rocks concerts were actually staged here much earlier – on a temporary platform in 1906.

I'm telling you Sesh, if there is one venue to go see a show at, this is it.
I see your point, and I guess that's true of you dot pay attention and let them get one on you. I also suppose it's different with different cars.. holding their value, etc.. But as you said - all things being equal I'd rather not be paying into something that I have to give back. Essentially a long rental. Math isn't my thing, and maybe I'm wrong.

This conversation is boring and not funny...but, worth pursuing.
Think of it this way...a lease gives you an option to leave if the car sucks...better to cut your losses than keep paying.
if it is a great car, the residual payment is exactly what the car is worth at that time anyway if you negotiated properly...then you can get a loan to take care of the rest or perhaps you saved that amount up whatever...better than committing to the 500 or 600 a month for 4-5 years...you hedged your best with a 350 payment for 3 years and pay exactly what it is worth after the lease is up.
Zero risk

They should film the performance at this show for the truly definitive live Van Halen DVD/BlueRay
