Just watched Eddie Van Halen wank. I'm okay with that. https://t.co/Iu7mBptk8G pic.twitter.com/sCEKY53mQ8— Mark Cameron (@NotMarkCameron) August 6, 2015

My God. There is NO experience than watching Eddie Van Halen rip a 15 minute guitar solo 25 feet in front of you. #WereNotWorthy #GuitarGod— Ellay Heys (@EllayHeys) August 6, 2015

Decent show. Sound issues all night, they fought feedback as late as ATBL. We kept hearing the sound change from a muffled midrange and then it got clear. And then it would muffle again. I think the band knew something was up, Ed was pointing at his monitors and then a finger "up," Dave went up to Ed between songs and had a little chat, and finally Dave mentioned technical issues. Supposedly the first show at this venue, so maybe that was part of the problem.

Dave didn't talk as much as he did Monday night. Maybe the sound bothered him. At one point he said "I'm bombing tonight!" or something similar. It was cooler here than it was Monday night, I almost expected a "turn that fucking wind off!" rant.

More spoken vocals, less comments during songs. I think Dave was pissed and got to the point where he had enough and all the little extras were left out. But the locals likely didn't know they missed anything, and crowd response was still pretty good.

Von gets to the hotel around 4 and we head over to the bar. The buses are now in front of the other hotel, we get closer and see Wolfgang signing stuff. He gets on the bus,and no one leaves. A few minutes later Ed comes out and makes his way down the line to the bus, signing and taking pics. There was a local guy in a wheelchair that had been out in front of the hotel most of the last two days, Ed talked to the guy for a bit and posed for a pic. Von has a pic of the buggy on his phone and got to show it to Ed. I am waiting for Ed's lawyer to slap a cease and desist on Von lol. Ed got on the bus and they left for the venue. I got some pics that I will post later.

Lucky bastards. I had this buddy in L A that had a knack for meeting famous people. He got his picture taken with Diamond Dave at a bar in Orange County when Dave was still playing the club circuit. He called his wife to ask her something while she was at a book signing by Gene Simmons and Gene answered the phone. My most memorable celebrity experience was meeting Ponch at a car show.

Van Halen Rocks Western Fair District
By Heather Manners on August 6, 2015 4:23am

Van Halen christened the Western Fair District’s new outdoor concert venue last night with bang.

An estimated 7,500 fans packed the new concert site at the racetrack to catch original members David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen performing their hits like Jump and Running with the Devil in their over two hour show.

Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie’s son, has played bass with the band since the 2006 departure of Michael Anthony. Western Fair District chief executive officer Hugh Mitchell says, “It’s really just the start,” for the new venue.

I cuntcur with Twona. The sound was fucked almost all the way through the show. Dave told the sound guy to "wake up" once, and made several other comments about the sound. Definitely issues.

Other than the sound, the show was pretty good. That review above claims there were 7,500 people there, and I believe that to be right on the money. I told Twona late into the show, that there was no way it was close to 10,000. Regardless, doesn't matter. It was a nice cool summer night, outdoors at a Van Halen concert, with a few old friends. Old friends that aren't as old as Zah, but old friends nonetheless. This was a VH show that featured very little banter from Dave. They pretty much went from one song, to the next. I don't know if it was the sound issues, or what, but they didn't mess around. Dave did tell a very cool story about "Mr. V", Ed and Al's Dad, before "Ice Cream Man". Of course, some drunken asshole had to scream at the top of his lungs telling Dave to "Just play a fucking song". The guy obviously didn't get it. Didn't get Dave, and didn't get Van Halen. I'm sure he was just there for a drunken party anyway. Overall, it was a good show. I strongly debated whether or not to attend. I paid $60.00 for my ticket, and I'm glad I didn't pay anymore than that. The setlist is good. The band is phenomenal. Dave is doing better than the representation on the live album, and the shows of that time period. But, I still wouldn't go any further than I went for this one, and I sure as hell wouldn't pay big bucks to see them. When they play DTE in Sept. I'll go if I can get a ticket for a reasonable price.

Getting to speak to Ed for a minute was really cool. He liked the buggy, and probably would have liked it more if he could have seen all the details on it. I don't know if he was busting my balls when he asked how he could sign it because it wasn't there, or if he just has hearing loss because of all the loud music. I did have to repeat myself with almost everything I said to him, and he leaned in so he could hear me better. He was laughing and smiling, and you could just tell he is finally in a good place. He looks healthy, and he was just really cool to everyone he saw. I think Edward Van Halen is really at peace with himself now. Of course, he'll probably still get caught up when he's being interviewed, and spew some crazy shit, but he really seemed to be down to earth and very happy to be where he is. I am glad for him.

It was great to see TommyV and Twona again. I'm glad that other fucking Canuck Guwapo didn't show up! I'm sure he would have been there if he really believed they weren't going to kick me out at the border again!

This might sound daft but instead of taking a pic of you and ed you showed him your phone .
Pity you didn't have something with you to capture the moment , you have heard of pics or it didn't happen.

                              fuck your fucking framing

I had a choice, and I chose to show him the buggy, instead of getting the pic. Besides, Twona was supposed to get a pic of me showing it to him, but he had a shitty vantage point. He did get a pic, but I'm not sure you can tell it's me. Weather permitting, I'll be driving it to their hotel when they're here so he can sign it, and then I'll get a pic with him, and the buggy!
