Actually, I find Jump to be as Van Halen as any other song from the six pack. Sure, Ed smiled his way through and made Ted and Dave record the song, but it was Dave that completely made the song his own with the lyrics. There is absolutely no doubt that Dave has his hands all over that song as much as Eddie.
Now, I'll Wait on the other hand...

I obviously wasn't around when 1984 was released so my opinion is of a different mindset, but as a neutral party who didn't have to (over)hear Jump's dominance on radio and mainstream music outlets, I like them both as individual songs (well, Jump including 1984)...I can definitely feel the age, but that's more due to synth inclusion than the structure of the songs.
I think if you put either of the two songs on any other VH album, they're an immediate sore thumb. That said, there's enough experimentation throughout 1984 when considering Top Jimmy's "different" feel, to allow room for those two as well.
They're both infectious, hook-based songs that are aurally (insert joke here) pleasing. From that perspective, they share a common bond with every CVH song we know and love. As a guitarist myself, I'm rarely in favor of excluding the six string for synth, but the composer in me says those songs wouldn't have worked without prominent keys.
TL;DR I like Van Halen.

I'll Wait is a song that seems forced from Dave. You can tell just by the writing credits. Jump represents Dave's "belligerent optimism."
Love to see them mix it up with some different cuts from the last tour like DOA, Light Up The Sky, Simple Rhyme, So This Is Love, Little Guitars, Drop Dead Legs, Little Dreamer. Hearing Outta Love and Women In Love last tour was fantastic and they did them well.

Dave's main style was the scream and he did it better in my opinion than anyone before him or after. The guy actually had control of it like a freaking instrument. Now what used to sound like a pissed off panther or wolf, sounds more like the moose getting torn to pieces by a panther or wolf. He can still do the high pitch 'whoop' noise but the other things sound like the old guys in the booth from the Muppet Show. Solution, if a old wolf can no longer howl, than growl a lot in the low register he still sings just fine in, if not better now... and he will be able to get all the cougars he wants lol

He he
Dave's "WOOOAAAW" screams were part of his signature, it's too bad he doesn't make them anymore. There isn't any throughout the live album.
Not jumping down onto the stage from the drum set anymore is understandable, OK. But those screams of his must sill be there down inside his stomach.
I'm sure he could bring them back, but I think he's focusing too much on brand new ways of singing certain verses, which looks like a whole job in itself.

I think the man screamed his vocal chords to a point where he can no longer really do them and expect to do a whole live show after a few. I really do not get when people dog him for "not taking care of his voice." The very thing which made people like his style was the screaming and now they are mad at him for the results the screaming has on him. Sure, cigarettes probably did not help but there is no safe way to scream which I am aware of which one can expect to take care of one's voice while screaming like a banshee for decades. Rock and roll is like a contact sport (which Roth has often said haha) and like a football player, there is really no healthy way to knock the crap out of someone or getting the crap knocked out of one's self. Dave is like a running back whose beaten his body up doing what was expected out of his profession... but like a aged running back, one would hope he would rely at least on his vision and stop trying to hit octaves he was never adapt at doing even when he was young lol
It's because he's incapable of producing them anymore. 40 years of screaming and Marlboro reds have taken their toll. He's lucky he's not talking through a kazoo piped into a hole in his neck.
And the ones you heard on ADKOT were nothing more than production wizardy. Archived screams punched in to new recordings.

I've been saying this for a while now, but it would be intreresting if they threw us a curveball and opened up with "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love"

Not a complete "in-order" set list, but here's my two cents of faves I would like to hear (along with the usual):
Unchained (opener)
Little Guitars
Blood and Fire
Bottoms Up! (With a flashback on the screen of Dave doing Bottoms Up in his Chaps pants from back in the day!)
Dance the Night Away
A "sweet interlude" Dave Solo of "Could this be Magic" and "Damn Good"
Stay Frosty (instead of Ice Cream Man)
In a Simple Rhyme
************
Drop: I'll Wait
1) Unchained
2) I'm the One
3) Drop Dead Legs
4) Somebody Get Me a Doctor
5) Little Guitars
6) Drums solo
7) Everybody Wants Some
8) Hear About It Later
9) Runnin' with the Devil
10) Mean Street
11) Women in Love
12) Take Your Whiskey Home
13) Fools
14) Girl Gone Bad/House of Pain (with no break between both songs)
15) Stay Frosty
16) Intruder/Pretty Woman (with "Intruder" only)
17) Beautiful Girls
18) Guitar solo
19) Panama
20) Romeo Delight
21) Little Dreamer
22) Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love
23) Me Wise Magic
24) Dirty Movies
25) Hot for Teacher
26) In a Simple Rhyme
Personally speaking , my ideal setlist would heavily emphasize the first four albums especially Fair Warning .
A rotation of The Full Bug , Hang 'Em High , Cathedral/Secrets from Diver Down .
A rotation of Drop Dead Legs , Girl Gone Bad , and House Of Pain from 1984 .
A rotation of Tatoo , She's The Woman , and Stay Frosty from A Different Kind Of Truth .
Somehow incorporate an acoustic guitar showcase from Edward as well reminiscent of Spanish Fly .
I could do without Jump , Panama , I'll Wait , Hot For Teacher , Pretty Woman , Little Guitars , and Dancing In The Street . Classic Rock radio has all but ruined these tunes for me .
I'm absolutely sure this would NEVER happen but it would be a sheer delight to see and hear Van Halen do Damn Good Times .

I need to see On Fire and Light Up the Sky to be satisfied in my life with live Van Halen. I've been lucky and seen many of my favorites live. Stay Frosty would be a treat as well. It sounds like all of these are in the pantheon of 'hardest to sing Van Halen Songs" but they are also all very badass. On Fire is probably the most underrated VH song in my opinion. And it would shred DLR if he sang it today. Maybe Artie Lange is available.
I'll Wait is the worst Van Halen song of the all the Roth albums and it's a piece of garbage and I'm personally offended that it was played live to me. I did have to piss though so it worked out. Jump as an encore is very effective as a traffic beater.
I'm looking forward to the 2015 tour.

Haven't looked at anybody else's. Gonna keep it to 25 like Tokyo Dome. Mine is unrealistic. No Jump. If they did this, but decently, I'd float for a month. This list ain't for the casual fan, I think it's for us. I even left off my probable favorite, HAIL for some other stuff. Now I can look at the other lists.
Hang 'em High
Dirty Movies
And The Cradle Will Rock
As Is
Drop Dead Legs
Hot For Teacher
Honeybabysweetiedoll
Feel Your Love Tonight
Secrets
Wimmen In Love
You and Your Blues
Yankee Rose (They realize they don't really have a problem with it.)
D.O.A.
So This Is Love?
In A Simple Rhyme
Push Come to Shove
Stay Frosty
Little Guitars
Light Up The Sky
Can't Get This Stuff No More
Everybody Wants Some
Unchained
Panama
Romeo Delight
Ain't Talkin Bout Love

Would be killer if they played all of "Fair Warning".

Wouldn't it be great if each show played an entire album?
