DAVE PLAYS GUITAR LIKE HE SINGS AND DRIVES AMBULANCES!!!!!!!!Sammy ROCKS ROTH sucks COCKS!!!
KID VEGAS ...........GOD BLESS!!
Don't act like Sammy is some guitar god, because he ain't even close.
Dave will tell you he is no guitarist, but if you ever get a chance to listen to the recording of him doing 79th and Sunset then you'll know he can play better than most think.
i didnt say dave cant play, i said sam is just a better guitarist
That was intended for Kid Vegas. I'm actually in agreement with you that Sam can play guitar better than Dave. However, Kid Vegas needs to lay off the 'shrooms if he thinks Dave can't rock. Sammy Hagar is a minor league frontman compared to the LEGENDARY David Lee Roth.
David Lee Roth is Definetly a bettter front man for sure
i wouldnt say minor league, sammy is a great front man period...
dave WAS the greatest frontman ever
I think both Dave and Sam should leave the guitaring duties to Ed !
Spammy ruins songs when he tries to play along with EVH.
BABY PANA 2 IS Coming !! All across the land, let the love and beer flow !
Love ya Mary Frances!
Don't dave play the lead to i'll wait on the 1984 tour??
I always thought that Davesicle looked like it would be a fucker to set the intonation on...
Just pop in Live Without a Net, first song, to see what Spammy does to a song by playing guitar.
One Way To Rock I believe it was?
The end was a cluster fuck of good vs. bad fretting and Spam was the fucker doing the bad fretting.
They did that shit right in front of me on the 5150 tour and it was clear from that moment on that my destiny was to want hagar OUT of that band.
Spam is a better solo act than he is a part of VH, and you can take that to the bank, cash it, and spend it on whatever you like.
Roth is no guitarist, but he at least does what he does well.
No, Ed did. He only played the guitar solo. He played keyboards during the rest of the song.Originally posted by Hippy Hater

Dave can play a very good acoustic guitar though.

He can play - In feb he played Spanish Fly (I think it is) before starting Ice Cream Man on stage.
Moving webhosts & will be making changes to the picture hosting - watch this space..
he also plays some decent acoustic stuff on the bar-b-q tape
how lame...... yawn! another spermmy can do this and that better than dave. personally kidfaggot I think your a dave fan since your here so much. it wouldnt be so old if it were true but everyone knows who the man is. remember the 96 MTV awards ? yes, they were chanting DAVE DAVE DAVE....etc
no way in hell if it were spermmy up there they would be chanting spermmys name. sucks to be jealous and always have to prove your butt pirate spermmy hagar is not and will never come close to DLR legend in Van Halen!
idiot! eveytime you post you sound dumb and then even dumberer!

Im pretty sure Dave does guitar work for Ice Cream Man, Big Bad Bill and...? Ford? What else? Ed plays Spanish Fly for sure. He also does Women and Children First, thats why you can hear Dave say "Edward? Thank you!" it's Ed playing. I know Dave CAN play basic chords. In a recent interview he was quoted as saying he was "learning to play" didn't he?
"FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKIN' BITCH! WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE ANYWAYS? TALK TO ME LIKE THAT? FUCK YOU. DRAG QUEEN LOOKIN' WHORE- YOU AINT SHIT. YOUR THE FRECKLE TO THE LEFT OF MY BROWN EYE. NOW GO MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL...OH, PUT DAD ON THE PHONE"
Just for the record, the song is called "Could This Be Magic, " not "Women and Children First."
I'm thinking he also plays at the beginning of Take Your Whiskey Home, but I could be wrong.

Yeah I meant the album, but was thinking of CTBM. Take your Whiskey Home? Yeah that def could be. I dont think Ive seen them play that song live. I prefer Dave on Harmonics anyways. US Fest. Dave played the harmonica perfectly and was wasted and drained and hit all the right notes.
That's Eddie....Dave couldnt play that snappy.Originally posted by SoCalChelle

Dave couldnt play Spanish Fly if his life depended on it.

It's without question not the most difficult of the Van Halen compositions...AND it is a Carlos Montoya rip off..Ed himself said he saw this cat Montoya play and couldn't do it himself so he half-assed it and recorded Spanish Fly...Originally posted by smaz

I don't think Dave would say he was even a good guitar player...
And I won't say Ed is even good at this point...
Wrong...lol. You're referring to the intro to Little Guitars....had to school ya.Originally posted by DR CHIP

Spanish Fly actually is a rippin' piece. Ted Templeman saw Ed playing on an acoustic and asked if he could do an Eruption-like piece on that guitar. It was on New Year's Eve when he asked him this, right before they were done recording VH 2.Originally posted by DR CHIP

Another thing....the thing that Montoya was doing that Ed was referring to (when talking about the intro to Little Guitars) is called Flailing. It's what many Flamenco guitarists do....very tough. I've yet to see ANY rock player do it, not even Steve Morse.....he's one who's tried many picking styles, too.Originally posted by DR CHIP

I like it don't get me wrong but it is NOT the most difficult VH piece by any stretch...IMHO....
The intro tapping isn't difficult and the tapping in general on the piece is fairly straight forward...the runs could be difficult depending upon one's ability, but still straight forward....
the 2-4-1 pull off though in the middle is my favorite part...used to be a bitch to get back to the 1....

I can play it, too....i think it's one of his coolest things. He played it to perfection in Hartford recently. Thing is...on a shitty acoustic, that can be a bitch to execute, which was the case on that recording. And that fast ascending run, it was ripped off by sooooo many players. George Lynch cloned it for the solo to Into The Fire by Dokken.
Anyway, the Little Guitars Intro was the Montoya thing.
Here is an excerpt from a guitar interview....
Did you use a pick for "Spanish Fly"?
Yeah, except for the part near the end that sounds like Montoya or something

I believe the article was written before Little guitars was ever recorded...
