Give me your "best band nobody's heard of"...

...and what you think their best/most representative album/song is.

    Criteria:

    1) generally rock"ish" as you'll lose me if it's jazz, country, reggae, etc. 70s, 80s 90s, current- it's all good
    2) i don't subscribe to anything like pandora so try to hook a brother up via youtube if possible (or any other place where i could actually listen to the stuff)

Just been in a rut musically lately and looking for some new to me stuff. Thanks!

    My suggestions for others:

Helmet - Meantime (their most popular album, but i think it's their best)

Fastway - Fastway and/or All Fired Up (these are their first two albums- just good straight ahead rock)

Great question Chuck. I've been in the same rut. I've been playing the shit out of this song lately. Think I'm gonna buy their couple of CDs based on this alone and hope for the best.

Also digging this band featuring Eric Dover from Slash's first album. This guy's a great, quirky, Steven Tyleresque front man who's not so bad on geetar either...

Since it is all Relative....all I can give you are bands that I recently or semi-recently were unknown to me....lol as a Start:

Least for the last one they fucked Led Zeppelin and stole some of their Children*

For a nice interlude....presented this for my friends wedding:

    Don't get mad this time:

    Rock and Roll:

    A little light lilt:

    Better Baby:

    Click and Clack:

And so...I am sure you have heard all of these before...but since no one seems to care...I guess I don't either...Remember ...you never heard of me either.

This Guy will see you out:

Diggin' Rival Sons, Helmet and The Hellacopters getting a mention.

I'll throw Kerbdog into the mix, a little band from Ireland in the '90s. Their best was 'On the Turn' which was grunge without the shoegazing and riffed like a motherfucker. I believe I reviewed, but you'd have to check the index in the Album Reviews thread...............

I'd also highly recommend Fu Manchu, who are a stoner rock band with big fuck off riffs and a fuzzed out sound.

'King Of The Road' or 'Start The Machine' are great places to start.

You are correct about Fu Manchu- I've been riding with them in the Boogie Van for a while now. Good stuff! Have you listened to much Wo Fat? I've really been digging their stuff as well. Orange Goblin too. Btw, you're album review page is awesome. I've found a lot of good stuff there from bands I wasn't familiar with, so keep up the excellent work!
