For the purported increase in legal gun ownership to directly be responsible for a decrease in violent crime, you would have to a.) be certain that those people who previous crimes were committed against are the exact same type who are now purchasing weapons, and b.) make the leap that the criminals aren't "criming" anymore because they think everyone's armed.

Now consider the intellect or general cognitive ability of the average criminal - "thought" as a general process, nor keeping up with the NRA's latest stats are part of their makeup.

I think Sesh was pointing out the specious conclusions drawn from correlations between two factors. Abortions DO keep kids off the street (thus reducing crime), but can hardly be said to be the reason that violent crime has dropped. He was being facetious, I think.
