My only issue with the recent Tokyo Dome is that it was lazy.

It would have been more work sure to listen to all of the tapes...or maybe just ask us what were the best songs or shows...save them the trouble.

If they released epically mastered versions of US Festival, Oakland, and something from the 1979 tour, Sammy and others would have a field day with that as well...criticizing the relevance of the band releasing long past material, etc.

It seems to me that Dave is just trying too hard to be heard in the live mix singing in the register he is fixated on. Its an easy fix.

You know, I don't have a problem with Hagar really, except when it involves Van Halen. Wabos, Chickefoot, whatever that country/beach bum thing was he was trying to do for a while..meh, take him or leave him. Then he opens his fucking mouth.

Quite obvious that this guy doesn't have shit else to talk about right now except the stadium tour he AIN'T on and the band he's NOT a member of. Mike was probably hanging out and once it was 100% certain he wasn't getting a call (in his mind, I mean - I think with the Halens there was no decision to be made) he figured, what the hell, I just want to play...besides, I'm not selling any hot sauce (which actually ain't half bad, but I digress...)...

I applaud Dave and the Boys for (so far) taking the high road, but I'd love, just ONCE, for Dave to roast his ass in public and be done with it.

We can probably expect a ramp-up on the rhetoric as it gets closer to tour time...and then his reviews of the shows...and then his same old obligatory "really don't have time to even think about it anyway because I'm working on the club and new band and rum and cars and surrounding myself with positive people and hey anyway life is good k bye" pitch - and of course, the press jumps on it because it's an easy story.

As a professional artist I liked the work of Dali but Dali always tried to get a rise out of Picasso for publicity and Picasso would never respond to him and it actually hurt Dali in the long run in the Fine Art circles because Picasso never confirmed his validity with a response... and Dali unlike Hagar had some skill lol

I saw him play once on the Roth Hagar tour in 2002 and he was very mediocre.

If anything I found it confusing. I couldn't understand how anyone would have the fucking cheek to turn up to play Van Hagar songs in front of 14000 Van Halen fans as poorly as that. It wasn't a reinterpretation which would be a bad enough idea it was just a really shitty version of the originals.

This was 13 years ago so maybe he's improved a little.

I didn't watch Slappy's set when Dave brought him to Charlotte. And Dave absolutely killed that nite, I mean KILLED. Now, Brian did his own take on Ed's Eruption and I dug the hell out of it. But I've seen plenty of videos of Vic playing Ed's stuff and it sucks. I don't know if he just doesn't want to play the stuff just like Ed or what. Regardless, it comes across as mediocre at best to a guy like me who doesn't play geetar.
