So there we were, my wife and I. Ghost opened the show played maybe 40 minutes, we were drinking bear and patiently waiting for the Foo Fighters, even though I love Ghost, the sound was a bit muddy, the stage to far away with screen projections being very small.
So 30 minutes after Ghost walked off the stage Dave comes running out screaming -are you ready, so am I, this is going to be a long night you know that right?
Crowd goes nuts they play Everlong, tight, good sound and high energy.
- This was the first song Dave says, and band starts playing Monkey Wrench. A minute into the song Dave... well went off stage, is the best way I can describe it. It didn't look like he was jumping off neither like he fell. He stopped singing but the band kept on playing, crew came running to the end of the stage, screens went black, the band stopped playing.
A bit off confusion and then the screens comes on showing Dave laying down saying he´s sorry, but he has to leave, he has broken his leg, he promise that the Foo Fighters will come back and do another show as soon as possible.
Taylor grabs the mic saying the band will jam a couple of songs, just to give us something. A bit disappointing to say the least, some people start to leave and I´m sure this is the end of the night.
After the band jammed a couple of songs the screens shows an empty chair on stage, and Taylor says Dave wants to join for a few songs. Dave comes on stage on a stretcher and the put him on a chair with a medic sittning beside him fixating his leg. Dave is really trying his best and the band sounds good, but it´s kind of awkward to see a band like Foo Fighters with Dave on a chair.
After a couple of songs Dave says he has to go and get a cast o his leg but he will be back. So the band jams a bit more and after 10 minutes Dave coms back with his leg in a cast.
As the show goes on it´s getting clear to me that this is going to be a very memorable concert, immediately after he went off stage, it was off course disappointing as I thought that it was over. But Dave came back giving us all and more that anyone could ask. Dave said this is the best Foo Fighters concert of the tour but he don´t want another one like it
When Dave introduced the band all members got to play a snippet of a song, starting with Chris, they played I´m the One.
I compared the setlist to the one they played in Oslo two nights before, they didn't play Arlandia, but instead the played Breakout, enough space and Generator. With the x-tra band jam and songs played during introduction they must have played close to 30 songs, with Dave close to tears thanking us for coming and staying in spite off him breaking his leg.
All in all a very memorable show with Dave a true hero. True to the saying - The show must go on
