A guitar should be phallic, these look like you've sliced off your helmet!

I was thinking the components looked more like one of them model kits from MPC or Revell from my teen years. The body looks exactly like a battleship or troop mover.

Here's an idea Ed, since none of the 4 current members of the band wanted to take the time to do things right. Pay someone else to go through the shows, let them pick the best performances, and then fucking sign off on it!

I'm also a little surprised at how, apparently, Dave said to just release Tokyo and be done with it. He never struck me as lazy. Something just seems off about a band professionally recording two tours worth of shows and simply saying, eh, that one'll do.
The 'that one will do' attitude was how they ended up with Hagar. Management showed them a list, Ed closed his eyes, spun his finger down on the page and said 'that one' as his finger-tip landed on the words 'Fat Cunt'.

Rumor has it that an inch lower and it would have been the Nelson brothers on dual lead vocals.

Hold yer breath for the embossed copy of "Hang On Sloopy" featuring autographs from Ed and Rick Derringer.

Roth and Edgar Winter are apparently considering a similar release for "Coconut Grove".

But, hey, he was able to knock it into a different key with the trans trem so the vocalist could show off his 'range'.

What about the legwear he was sporting on that tour. Not even Bowie at the peak of his louche soulboy 70s days would have worn pink pants that baggy.

I had no idea that they had a #1 or were Ricky Nelson's kids until I just googled them just now.

In the UK they were just a running joke in the rock press.

Yeah, they were huge here. Damn record sold like crack. Had to take my girlfriend to two shows and there was more poon at the shows than you can imagine.

And these guys are tiny. I mean little bitty short dudes that weighed maybe 120 pounds. And whichever one it was that played the bass, he'd flip it over and on the back was painted Show Us Your Tits! And there's all these young teenage girls there and even I was like "Hey now, that ain't right..."

    So much worse now though.

I was at a Steel Panther gig a couple of years ago and they were doing the get girls on stage and encourage that. One was a bit overweight and borderline 17/18.

It was a bit sad walking past her at the end of the night seeing her wailing in tears being comforted by friends as she realized what she had done. It was in a city and there were 2000 people there but I think she had just remembered about YouTube...

I estimate your half plus seven was around 17 at that point.

    For the record.

The internet is a game changer here whereby what would have ended up just being a funny drinking story 15 years ago these days could be a life ruining event nowadays.

This will all settle down once people get used to it but for people with teenage kids just now they need to try and help avoid shit because I don't think schools or anyone else is fully teaching the possible consequences.

I agree, and that's not even fully putting things in perspective like the rampant cyberbullying that happens afterwards. Why do you think that a lot of kids commit suicide when it comes to these things? Having an embarrassing video of you on the internet with a million and one douchebags writing shit like "lol kill yourself" and on Facebook and Twitter have all your classmates call you a whore and a slut and make disgusting rumors up about you....God...

I don't know about it settling down... it's evolving at a rapid pace. With the growth of "the Internet of Things" (IoT) where our cars, appliances, televisions, etc become connected there's new frontiers of trouble and privacy concerns just waiting to be exploited and misused. So much so... that today's social media and smart phones with cameras and video will seem like quaint little nuisances in no time...

Hard to look to schools teaching any common sense to kids in this area... not many of the adults running schools have much of a clue themselves as evidenced by the idiots getting in trouble, losing jobs and getting locked up for their shenanigans. For parents... stay informed and educated about the dangers to your kids... don't look to the world to raise and educate them!!

For heavens sake... don't allow them to listen to the Nelson Brothers or Sammy Hagar...

My point is Ed doesn't seem to whip out the Frankenstein Fender,... perhaps, it is too valuable, but I would like to see Ed play this guitar live as if he was strumming away at the original one.

    any help..?
He played it live in 1980. It's a Charvel "Star" body with a Danelectro neck. It wasn't a great sounding guitar. Looked kind of cool in the day. I think the best sounding guitar Ed played was his 5150 Kramer. He has some great live tone with that through whatever Marshalls he was blazing through.

Mr. Edward playing his star thingy. I remember the guitar sounding kind of flat when I saw him play it in 1980. Ed was the mysterious mad scientist slapping stuff together and getting sounds nobody else could. People still don't sound like him. Some get close but nobody nails Ed completely. It's impossible.

How can the education system teach something it doesn't have? Technology is nothing but a multiplier for good or bad. The internet had the capability to be a wonderful educational tool but people mostly use it for gossip, small talk, fighting, porn, and low IQ type entertainment. It makes mail order shopping a hell of a lot easier but the internet and smart phones are becoming monitoring devices. As long as it's not obvious people won't care but it's creepy. I just read an article where the internet was a huge disappointment. I tend to agree. Even Steve Wozniak is down on where it's all heading and to be frank, I think many of us could go back to what life was without it.

It's a joke. It's not the real world. People say all sorts of shit on the internet they would never say to a person's face. We don't live in the information age we live in the bullshit age. Look do you see any real professional journalism anymore? It's all bullshit and it still goes back to trusting who you know and not some garbage on the internet. I mean read the comment section on anything and it's full of shit. The internet is one big garbage dump and anyone who gives a flying fuck what someone says about them on it is a loser.

You mean that warm, crunchy, tone he used to have that could still chunk and scream? The tone he got out of a bunch of slapped together junk and old stuff? Yeah. I miss that.

It sure smells like a money grab doesn't it? I think Eddie is more into his EVH brand and helping Wolfie make a album. I think Al and Dave just want to cash in. Look if you are an aging rock star in a fickle business and you may be looking at another 30 years of old age, you start to fill the nest egg when you can. If we were in their shoes you would be doing the same thing.

If I were living in Jackson Hole, the last thing I would be spending my time on would be on a Roth Army site. Fuck, you live in one of the best ski area in the world.
