I still enjoy YFLM. What i admire about Dave's solo career is that none of the releases sounded like another. They all had a different character. YFLM is no EEAS but it isn't trying to be. It is just summertime fun to me. Now back to bashing live albums and hoping for new music.
RIDE TO LIVE, LIVE TO RIDE
LET `EM ROLL ONE MORE TIME
"Ya know what they say about angels... An angel is a supernatural being or spirit, usually humanoid in form, found in various religions and mythologies. Plus Roth fan boards..."- ZahZoo April 2013
Watching that video again... when Dave mentions Nicki Minaj moving his seat back the crowd cheers but then a second later you can hear an obvious pause right after Dave thrusts his hips and 11.1 million viewers in the the world with the exception of a half dozen members here were simultaneously creeped out...
"If you want to be a monk... you gotta cook a lot of rice...”
Truly know Dave..?
The problem with mythical figures in history... at some point you look beyond the hoopla, bright lights, the smoke clears and then you consider the hard facts. Throw out all the hired models in staged pictures and video depicting Dave with women in the last 40 years.
What evidence is left?
1-2 pictures with Dave and a real woman on his arm...
Don't even throw the "he's a very private person" card out... Alex Van Halen is a very private person, but there's more factual evidence of life with the opposite gender by tenfold over Dave's account in life. I know a lot of you have lived vicariously for decades on the legend of Dave's exploits... frankly I don't buy into the illusions any more. Boil it down and there's nothing factual to support the silly notion...
So to net it out... 4 or 5 plausible encounters doesn't quite equate to legendary exploits in 40 years of public celebrity. Heck, I've had funner summers...
There's little evidence of any relationships... male or female. Given the constant public exposure no one can hide all that's assumed or implied to have occurred.
You miss the point, Dave found his true love early on and no one could live up to it.
Self love the love that keeps on giving
fuck your fucking framing
Hudson or Nabors?
Personally I couldn't care less about his sexual preference. He was the better vocalist in Van Halen. I started losing interest in the band after the first 4 albums. 1984 has a couple decent songs on it but I'll never understand why a band with one of the best guitar players ever would use a song with keyboard as the lead instrument to produce their first video for MTV when MTV was so popular. Instead of showcasing who they were they morphed into another MTV band.
Me too, Dog. I also had a baby in December 83, and music wasn't quite as important anymore.
I hate Jump, yet have fond memories. My ex used to turn the stereo up when Dave yelled "JUMP", and my son, in his jolly jumper, would. Lol. Nowadays it would probably be called child abuse.
I'm not implying nothing ever happened... I'm sure over the years there were a lot of wild nights on tour and a few noteworthy incidents that have fueled the legend especially in the early years... mostly in the 80's. But that was 30+ years ago... It's not relevant today and my point is, it hasn't been well since the turn of the century. Once Dave's career tanked in the 90's there's a lot of years of nothing to support this legendary fantasy persona... Other than an old jazz tune standard and hired models.
Some talk and imply like that shit's still a daily occurrence... as if the legend cuntinues. I think it's bullshit... and delusional to consider it anything other than creepy today. Especially grown men still worshiping at that perverted old fart alter...
I wouldn't trust anything Howard Stern says to be the truth other than him saying how small his dick is. He's probably never even seen that hot chick he's married to naked. He surrounds himself with bootlickers and proclaims hit greatness every chance he gets but I don't get it. The first time I heard him he was defending himself after someone (possibly Oprah) called him a racist for hiring a white person to ghost write his book or whatever you call it. He made a sound argument that he didn't hire the person and he didn't specify what color the person's skin should be. Then he mentioned that Oprah did specify what color the person's skin should be that helped her on her autobiography and called her out on it. I was impressed. The next thousand times I heard him he was trying to get some chick to stick her hand down his pants.
Well, Hagar has responded in typical Hagar form... totally ignore the topic and change the emphasis from credibility which makes Dave right lol
{-Specifically, Hagar questioned whether Roth could handle the vocals on a Hagar-sung Van Halen hit like “Right Now,” while introducing a live version of the song by his new band Circle as part of the Sammy Hagar’s Top Rock Countdown broadcast.
“The boys are out on tour — happily doing well, I hope,” Hagar said, “but they’re not playing any Van Hagar songs. My buddy Diamond said it was something about a quality issue. I laughed. I’m cracking up. You know, sometimes the guy says the wackiest things. But there’s a lot of truth in that. A quality issue — you think about that. Think about them with Diamond, singing this next song, it would definitely be a quality issue, OK? [Chuckles.] It would definitely be a quality issue.”
Roth was a co-founding member of Van Halen in the ’70s, working with the group until Hagar took over between 1985-96. Roth returned briefly in 1996, while Hagar was back from 2003–05. Roth has fronted Van Halen ever since, releasing a 2012 comeback album and, more recently, a live set titled Tokyo Dome in Concert.
The latter project showcases Van Halen’s current setlist with Roth, one which focuses on albums from his initial tenure between 1974-85 and on songs from the A Different Kind of Truth reunion project. Hagar has already criticized the vocal performance on Tokyo Dome in Concert.
Roth then took a shot at Hagar back stage during Van Halen’s recent appearance at the Billboard Music Awards. Asked about performing Hagar-sung tracks, he said “there’s a credibility issue there. Good, bad or in the middle, you know Roth means it; the other guy doesn’t. … And why would you bring that into the proceedings? This hamburger don’t need no helper”}
... oh, and he made sure not to talk about record sales anymore

I got lost in the...
All that LSD bullshit is real simple...
Dave says his hamburger needs no helper... in simple terms, the strength of his end of the VH catalog stands tall enough on it own.
Sam says... well, first off he cuntfuses the word credibility with quality... but implies Dave couldn't sing his VH songs worth a damn.
I agree with both of them... case closed.

Though saying records sales are not what they used to be is a understatement... Van Halen's "Tokyo Dome Live" debuted #20 on the Billboard charts with about 30,000 units sold in the first week and today Hagar's The Circle "At Your Service" live debuted at #78 with only roughly 7,600 units sold in the first week from the Nielson sources (with Van Halen averaging about 7,000 units sold each week for a few weeks after the debut), and those facts are credible lol
Just listened to some of the samples of the Circle live album. Sam is just one big glass house for saying "what were they thinking?" regarding the Tokyo vocals. He just sounds tired and flat.
In the sample for Why Can't This Be Love? you get to hear enough of Mike singing lead to know that he'd never cut it as a lead singer.
This has to be at least the 5th time Hagar has put out a VH cover CD. No "deep cuts" from that guy. Same 5 or 6 songs every time. I wonder if it's because "deep" in Van Hagar terms equals absolute garbage album filler.
So, pointing out the vocal shortcomings of others makes Dave sound that much better? Mike isnt that good either, thank God we have Wolfie in the band now? Deep cuts? Dave spent the 20 years he was banging on the door to be let back in singing Jump to anyone who would listen. At least he's still nailing 19 year old groupies every night, right?
You try too hard man. Take a deep breathe. I don't think Dave sounds great now at all, but it was your boy who offered up an unsolicited knock at Dave. Are you saying it's illegal for me to simply say he's not sounding so good himself?
Regarding Mike, he claimed he could do a better job singing the VH songs. I beg to differ.
I could give a fuck who or what Dave is "nailing". You sure think about it enough though.
