You know something? I think Kristy's right & most of you are still stuck in 1985 & are now slowly awakening to the realization that the world has changed around you. Not by choice, but because Van Halen is interacting with the real world, so you guys have no choice but notice it.

Well, welcome to 2015. All entertainment has gone to SHIT. Music is safe, bland corporatized bullshit that sounds exactly the same no matter who's auto-tuning, movies are recycled trash with the same actors, camera shots, soundtracks & ONE carefully woven plot that tries very hard not to offend any susceptibilities or allows you to think during the whole ordeal. Books have become poorly written fan-fiction with emphasis on either forced sexual tension - Young Adults - or straight up, also poorly written mind pornography for frustrated housewives.

Culture has become the equivalent of talking about the weather.

You're right Izzy... as usual... It's 2015 and Van Halen has evolved into the Pluto of the music universe. Not even quite a planet any more.

I read the charts or channel flip during any of these music awards shows on TV... I don't even recognize 70% of the names nor have heard their music which most of it sucks!!

It's somewhat a shame that Rock music didn't retain it's core genre like country has... instead the industry went chasing after any shit that turned a dime and forgot what built the house to begin with.

Your assessment of the industry is spot-on. I know that no one will give a shit about VH that night other than a few of us around here. I'm looking forward to seeing Eddie play and having a quality recording of it. That's about it.. No tears.

Nah, country just hides it better, because the Nashville corporate establishment has pretty much always had a stranglehold over that industry, to some extent. Sure you have your exceptions - Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr and III (not BoShitFaced!), Waylon, Willie, Merle Haggard, etc. who were capable of writing their own stuff and determining what musical path they wanted to take, but for the most part the country scene is... writers in this barn, singers in that barn, and even with somebody as mega successful as Garth Brooks, the guys you take on the road with you to sold out arenas ain't the ones who play on the records, you're stuck with the session musicians whom the producer wants to use.

Hell, what's the difference between Rascal Flatts and the Backstreet Boys? Other than twangy guitars, not much.
