We can’t lie, we never imagined we’d be typing these words, but apparently smoking weed might result in a dry vagina.
A dry mouth (or ‘cotton mouth’ as the kids call it) is a common and well known side effect of smoking marijuana. But did you know weed could also dry out vaginas?
Well apparently it can (and no, we’re not just basing this on the highly educational entries for ‘cotton vagina’ and ‘cotton vag’ and even ‘cotton pussy’ on Urban Dictionary).
Writing for Vice, Sophie Saint Thomas spoke to Dr. Julie Holland, author of the book Moody Bitches: The Truth About the Drugs You’re Taking, The Sleep You’re Missing, The Sex You’re Not Having, and What’s Really Making You Crazy, to try and get to the bottom of the issue.
Dr. Julie Holland confirmed: ‘not all pot is going to give you dry mouth, but if you have had a strain that is giving you dry mouth, it will also make you more dry [down there].’
But before you despair, Dr. Julie Holland also had this to say: ‘In general the thing that makes women dry is the pill.’
She went on: ‘As Mother Nature designs it, when you’re fertile, you’re wet. But if you’re on the pill, you don’t ovulate; you don’t get that mid-cycle wetness.’
So there you have it. Cotton vagina IS a thing, but nothing that a bit of lube can’t fix.
