    Memorial Day, 2015

Not sure this belongs here, yet I wanted to call attention to it.

Thursday is my day off, so that's when I go food shopping. Coming out of Winn Dick-Me and Publix, I was assaulted by folks with red, white and blue hats with card tables and coffee cans, claiming to be collecting funds for hospitalized veterans and giving you a little flag or a red, rose-shaped lapel pin. Do a little research, and well.. fuck these people, who are more than 65 to 75% scam artists.

If you'd like to truly help our veterans, then please, check out the Wounded Warrior Project (link: http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ )

A pleasant and well deserved (beyond belief) holiday to all who have served, and to those families that have supported them.

Thank you all for your service and dignity.

From a grateful nation, which also includes boneheads like me...

Last time I saw CVH was the day before Memorial day 1983 at the US Festival. Had to report back to the ship that tuesday. Just got back from overseas May 17th and took two weeks leave. Had to take a drug test the day I got back. Got busted and spent the next 45 days onboard the ship. Was it worth it? Hell yes. All but one of the friends I went with dicked me over but I still had a good time. We got seperated as soon as we got inside. One of them was holding my stash. Never bothered to try to meet up with us even though we agreed on a meeting spot if we did get seperated. Luckilly I ran into some friends from high school who were well supplied. Luckilly I had a wallet full of cash too. My other supposed friends missed Van Halen's entire set. They were waiting in the car when we got there with one joint of my stash left. I took it and smoked it with the friend who didn't ditch me. If I had driven I would have probably made them walk home.

A lot of artists are supportive of our veterans. I don't seem to recall Van Halen or Dave ever taking that road though...

One of the Van Hagarita documentaries showed them hosting a Navy fighter squadron for a sound check and meet/greet.....

But you're right, overall, not much at all....

GM is right, this is an area where KISS goes above and beyond....

The last 2 or 3 tours they've hired veterans as roadies, Wounded Warriors Project, and Gene and his family are regularly visiting the troops....

I'm on the fence about Ted. He supports the troops but he dodged the draft during Nam and admits to it. Even though I'm a veteran I can't honestly say I wouldn't have done the same thing myself. If I was around for WWII I would have joined as soon as I could to fight the krauts or the japs but that's a different story.

You're welcome but I never actually defended our country. I served and would have if need be but luckilly I didn't have to. The people I served with (and myself) helped deter anyone from fucking with us but most of us didn't see actual combat. We had a few pissing contests with others while I was in but they backed the fuck down like good little piss ants.
