My minor is in computer programming so my lame ass brothers always shaft me with computer related problems my parents have............I would spends hours on the phone just trying to get them to reboot the computer!!!!!!!!

I finally understood this emotion having to walk them through the simplest of tasks

Now I just remotely take over their computers and fix it!

The problem was that if he was copying and pasting 10 articles a day from woo made up dangerous non science websites then that left me the two options of arguing them down or deleting them. The later would have been very against the ethos here so I found myself paying to promote stuff that I despised or having to spend lots of time debunking.

It was a massive pain in the ass especially as in time it became apparent he wasn't even reading his own shit.

That's why when he asked to be banned I jumped at it - great!

He has family up here in Cascadia, and we were supposed to meet up at the Dave & Spam show at The Gorge that year (and possibly at the Atomic Punks show a couple days earlier) but I never did find the guy.

He fundamentally misjudged it. I don't get paid for traffic because I don't accept advertising. It all comes out my pocket so if ELVIS posts 80 bits of crazy shit and things are quiet and there are only another 20 posts that day then suddenly I'm the dummy paying to spread that shit.
This was a real problem for me for a while because I also didn't want to break the ethos of the site so I ended up having to spend lots of time on debunking his shit. For a while I could justify that time with the argument that people would read it and learn shit but when he asked me to ban him I thought 'great I won't need to do that any more'.
His ego thought that couldn't happen. He either misjudged it hugely or he wanted banned.

Rothfans wasn't opened to compete with the Army it just sort of happened. The first Rothfans was a kindler gentler Roth site that turned to shit. When the first RFs died other sites sprung up but they didn't last long either. TCR is about the only site that lasted that kind of spun off this site. At least I think it did. I don't know it's exact origins. I was invited to join TCR after another site folded that had a bunch of Army people as members.

We got screwed.

The bottom line was a stupid bill in a series of stupid bills for $400 to bring the site back up which we thought was complete bullshit. It was a bullshit bill about some non shit and we got stubborn on it. Again in hindsight maybe $400 for all those posts and memories was worth it but by that point with Mezro gone from here, some other stuff with the band less relevant, I was up to my ears in babies and building a new company it didn't make sense to not just come back here.

After a while I was made a moderator again.

There were also things at DDLR that just didn't work. Von had asked me to make a backup of the site, and the forum software would hang and a backup would never be completed. Tried it on a few different machines, never worked. I think it was after the hosting company got sold, it seemed like we didn't get the level of service from the new ownership that we had gotten from the old.

But the times where we took down a few of the biggest kooks (no names, please!) that tried getting us shut down and started making threatening calls, etc, that hosting company had our back. That's what I find most painful about losing DDLR...so-and-so and what's-her-name and the other guy couldn't take us down, but that other little thing did.
