It's fucking cool those guys think enough of Dave era VH to do that.

If I'd have been there, I'd have stolen all that striped stuff!

Pretty damned neat, and definitely a day-maker. Thanks for sharing.

I didn't quite know what to make of the fedora clad back up singer. I was trying to like it. JSS seems like a cool guy. Too bad he never quite hooked up with the right gig. I think he actually sang with Journey for a hot minute. Or second.

Can he? Of course he can. Will he? No...we're not worth it. He would have to rehearse.

Tour starts in less than a month, the vitriol will be endless....

Dave's hair, Dave's yelping, Dave's Judy Garland act, Dave's inability to jump off a 20 foot drum riser at age 60, Ed's stale solo, Mike's continued absence, Wolf's continued attendance, Wolf's ever-expanding weight, numerous hatred of the setlist, and I'm sure someone will find something to complain about Reverend Al.....

Other than that, it will be great....

Fuck that, I'll jump ahead of the crowd & start bashing on Alex RITE NOW! I never liked Al, that mongoloid looking motherfucker. There's something about him that doesn't sit quite right with me. I bet he's the one who pulls Ed's broken, twisted strings.

So you suspect Dave will continue his Judy Garland descent to madness? You have inside sources, so I'm not betting against you, but I was hoping for a full on Moulin Rouge/Folies Bérgere Can Can act.

    One can dream.

    Cheers!

I agree, pretty apparent from the interviews over the years that Al is pretty intelligent (other than his religious leanings), much more so than Ed.... I wouldn't doubt for a second he has much more influence on business decisions than people would think.....

And as for Dave, let's face it, the only thing separating him from Judy right now is a fucking top hat and cane, it's not really a stretch.....

I know how Dave liked waving that big ass flag on tour... now he could have fucking windmills turning in sync with his drum major baton twirling routine too, and then bring the same chick up on stage every night and sing "Dulcinea" to her in interesting new octaves lol

    Shit, that's right!

They can't POSSIBLY be thinking about doing that schtick on DTNA with the same girl like they did on Kimmel and Ellen......

But with these guys, nothing is impossible.....

Complaints? Naaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...well, maybe just a bit.

I don't miss Mike anymore. Missed him in 2007. By 2012, Wolf had acquitted himself well enough. Truth be told, when I saw the band in 1984 I was only barely aware Anthony was even there, anyway. When I saw the band in 2012, I was only barely aware that he wasn't. If he rejoined now, it wouldn't make Van Halen sound any better onstage than they do now (even his lauded background vocals aren't what they once were).

The setlists of the last two tours were a decent mix of things you'd obviously expect to hear and several deep cuts. The deep cuts changed on each tour.

Reverend Al played well on both tours. Got no complaints about him. Don't really care what his offstage life/personality is like. It's irrelevant to my enjoyment of the show.

Ed's solo spot IS stale, but at least Ed has been capable of performing his parts in a professional manner from the ADKOT tour forward to the present. Certainly nothing new or innovative from him has been (or probably will be) offered live or in the studio. What he's doing now live clearly isn't up to the level of what he was doing 30 years ago in terms of technical execution, but it's far better than what he was doing in 2004 and 2007/2008.

Dave, dave, dave. Doesn't matter to me that the hair is gone, or that the onstage karate routines have been shelved. His appearance and presentation are befitting of someone his age. At least I can look at him now and not wince in embarrassment, as opposed to, say, the Heavyweights of Rock tour he did with Hagar (with that laughable platinum hair plug weave and Krusty The Klown spandex). And I don't have to watch him try to execute the old jumping high kick routines, visibly lose his footing and wonder if the show will come to an abrupt halt because Dave has fallen down and can't get up. Thankfully that didn't come to pass, but it easily could have had concessions in that area not been made. Also, I was glad that Dave had excised his continual onstage taunt about fucking my girlfriend. The idea of Crazy Old Uncle Roth with my old lady backstage, trying to make good on his threat with his aged manhood in one hand while staring at the watch on his other hand and waiting for the Viagra to kick in...talk about no future for old men...I mean, even an old huckster satyr like Dave deserves to fade into his senior years with more dignity than that.

Even the high-end of his range and those screams being gone forever is tolerable.

All he has to do is walk around and sing the tunes properly. It's a diminished standard, but surely not one that Dave can't attain. Is it? I'm not so sure, because on the last tour he was only really capable of doing the former and not so much the latter.

Well, Jeff Scott Soto will mop the floor with Dave any day, when it comes to pure singing.

    Let's not fool ourselves here.

And it's not like Michael Anthony is some sort of Bass god, or anything.

Maybe I shouldn't delve any further into this subject. I may be accused of high treason.

    Cheers!

Wait, you're supposed to watch the video before commenting?

    My bad.

I'm not fooling myself. The guy did alright for turning in a Tom Araya-esque performance with two or three falsetto screams, but in no way does this guy com close to what DLR once did. In fact, not remotely close. All due respect.

Ok, I cracked down & watched the video. It was horrible. That'll teach me to comment on something I have no clue about.

THIS is what I was talking about:

And yes, Ronnie James Dio was much, much better than Jeff. Obviously.

    Cheers!

    Fuck that one video limit.

Still convinced Jeff doesn't come close to to what Dave once did?

Yes, Kristy. It's slightly homo-erotic. But I don't get turned on by it, I swear.

    Cheers!
