I forgot what fucking tour of Dave's in the past it was but I attended a show in bum fuck Corpus Christi, TX, called "Wolly Bully's" (you do not make shit like this up) and Dave was suppose to hit the stage at 8 pm and made his way to the stage at like 10 pm. My brother was at the show with me and went to take a piss at the club while waiting for Dave to take the stage and lo and behold took a piss right next to Dave's guitarist at the time who was whoever the fuck that was at that moment. My brother asked when Dave was going on stage and the guy replied hopefully sometime, he is on the phone with Edward. My brother asks, "Edward Van Halen" and he they guy says, "yeah, they fucking talk all the time". I think this was after the whole MTV blown reunion. As a professional painter, I was able to meet Dave and give him a painting. I walked to his bus and two chicks walked out of the bus with their hair fucked up laughing and drunk as hell (they where hot in a late thirties kind of way) and then there was Dave who walked out a few seconds later with a Jack Daniels bottle in his hand. He was cool as shit and actually allowed me to talk and was nothing like the 'I can't get a word in' interview persona he seems known for and was funny and smart as hell. It was about 10 minutes and then he went on stage. Small crowd but he performed like it was Wembley stadium. No I did not ask him about Edward or Van Halen and we just talked art. My point is that Dave is not down to earth but if you have relatively a notion of art and culture on a more refined level he will give you the time of day and some and if you are a ignorant fuck and know nothing about culture he would probably give you the traditional bozzy bozzy bop character routine of one liners. Sam has the cultural makeup of your local plumber, so the 'red' politician seems to appeal to the hayseeds of Missouri with ease and your average pot head.
