You think I don't know that?

All I'm saying is, put as much effort into the music, as you do the visual.

Do you want to see the 1979 Penthouse Pet laying around with her snatch hanging out, in 2015? She could probably pull it off as well as Dave is pulling off his faggy "rock star" act.

I used to think an acoustic album would be a great idea. but after the "downtown sessions" that accompanied the ADKOT release, I changed my mind.

Maybe if Sobolweski came back, but the Wolfie harmonies just ain't gonna cut it with an acoustic mix.

I would bet the first part of that is gonna happen, haven't talked to him about it yet....

But we're gonna have our chat with him, maybe on the 17th, not finalized yet....

He told me he doubts he'll do a follow up. He feels he would have to have full cooperation from Ed, Al and Dave, and knows he'd never get that.

Now that the VH tour is over, Dave should take a page from the Keith Richards playbook and put that damned album out already. And just like Keef already announced that the Stones are headed back to the studio, Dave can do some press saying he's ready to make another Van Halen album whenever the sisters are ready to work.

That's my take. I mean why would he want too sound like shit on some songs if he could sing them good. On all of them if you ask some people. I won't go that far. I think this was a good tour for them. The energy in the performances were there. I mean what more do you want from 3 old guy's ?? I guess you could say retire. And that should happen at some point. I always thought an older Dave led VH might be silly. Maybe his voice going is the first sign of that ?? I guess it is. I don't know ? Do another album and tour and go away for good ?? We all know that will take another 3 years too get done. Put's them in their mid 60's. Do that and hang it up. It's fine with me. I guess time will tell. These guy's might all do something on a stage every few years til they die. Just don't think it will be in the Van Halen form in 10 years. Not the one we all love anyways. Don't think it will be Van Hagar either. His voice is worse than Dave's these day's.

Has Ed's performance been harshly criticized because he's not wearing 1981 clothes?

I think Ed said somewhere during this tour, something about being 60, and performing like you're 60. That comment got brushed under the rug, but to me, it was damning. That comment hit the nail on the head, and is why I believe they are done. Unless they can get an outrageous payday, which I don't think they can.

Anybody else read Greg's book? Dave always wanted to be a "Rock Star". That was his whole mission. Maybe it's time for him to just be a musician. At this point, I think it would be much better received, and appreciated.
With much respect, Von - you may be right about this having been the last tour.....or not? JHale and I both discussed the fact of being at the finale Sunday night and how important it was....just in case this was the last (?)

I did read about the EVH comment told to Billboard about scolding Dave to act more like a 60 yr. old - but being around here for so many summers, you know as well as I, that we've gotten immune to hearing the gripe from the brothers. T

Van Halen would not be =VH= without the chemistry of these two geniuses.

About Greg Renoff's book? He's doing a local book signing I will attend on Friday and I'll report back. I can't imagine this guy knows more than what has been discussed historically here at RA... DLR has always been pretty candid with us.

Then you're gonna be surprised very quickly when you read the book. I was skeptical at first as well, having read other fairly lame VH books, but the level of detail is very, very impressive. It's that good....

The details of the early days is so cool, and so thorough. Fucking great book. Unless the Van Halen's themselves write a book, you not going to get a better snapshot of the beginnings of the baddest motherfucking American rock band on the planet. Speaking of snapshots, Greg has some very cool photo's in this book.

The book is from the flies on the wall from as way back as 1967. Their stories are absolutely fantastic. This book puts you there, believe me. I never doubted for a second that it would.

Something to be said of that little thing called "practice"... especially when it involves the human body. Great athletes do it... great musicians as well... maybe it's time for great entertainers... ya think?

What's sad is the whole concept of practice makes perfect is ingrained in Dave's passion for his martial arts crap... just needs to transfer that energy to honing his voice instead of some imaginary fight he'll never be in. How many dedicated and proficient martial art's experts pay a fat-assed fucking body guard to escort them their entire adult life..?

Now we have him back with Ed and Al and we got at least one new album which has some great tunes, some brilliant lyrics and which brought the band back on the road...

Now to the "act like your 60"-topic. That's exactly what they all do. In THEIR very individual way. Dave is the guy who gets his ass tattooed with a Japanese yakooza motive and ed is sporting a grey beard, jeans and a t-shirt. If you did expect Dave to calm down at 60 and grow up you chose the wrong band back in the day.

Dave is and will always be Dave! Diamond Dave! All you whining "oh he's doing the Liberace stuff"-bitches try Bon "half Jesus" Jovi or "full Jesus" Bono. If you lost your fucking sense of humour for the greatest frontman.

I always shook my head over one or the other move he was making. But as long as he is out there trying to entertain me and to throw a hell of a party I will except his invitation.

Yeah...his is voice isn't that strong anymore...boofuckinghoo...his singing was worse when I saw him 1988...so were his clothes.

    Dave or the grave Motherfuckers!
    Dirk from Germany...outstanding!!!
    Same ole song and dance...

I assume that the martial art training was more about being able to kick his head height at 60 onstage than bar brawls...

I'm half your age and I can't do that.

Really famous ones like Dave? Probably quite a few. That fat assed bodyguard is probably carrying a firearm just in case some nut ball decides to try to put a couple bullet holes in his client like Mark David Chapman did to John Lennon. Real bad guys attack you when you're not looking and don't mind ganging up on you whether they need to or not. Martial artists are only invincable in movies.

Seriously..? You think DLR's motivation towards martial arts was to hone his stage antics..?

First off... most of the stage moves Dave has used over the years is far more closely aligned with common gymnastics and fucking cheer-leading than any tough guy martial arts. Secondly... at the young age when Dave started into martial arts majority of kids are just pussies who couldn't fight in the streets and defend themselves from bullies. So their rich parents paid to have them trained... but most remained social outcasts and still got their asses kicked...

Thankfully twona isn't too good at math... If he was y'all would think I'm in my 90's... Punks!!
