I appreciate the sentiment, but there is A LOT of help for homeless vets and those struggling with PTSD. Many homeless are not aware of the programs or essentially refuse because they want to continue to drink and drug, but here in Buffalo many live in free apartments...
One of the double-edged swords regarding PTSD is that vets can get a lifetime pension starting in their 20's which often leads to substance abuse since they're not allowed to work W-2 jobs and many just starting drinking all day...
