There are a few of these 'Then and Now' webpages but I think this one is particularly good.

It's amazing how little has changed in some places
E.g.
The Cliffs of Pointe du Hoc
After the assault at the cliffs of Pointe du Hoc by the 2nd Ranger Battalion (D, E and F Company) Colonel James E. Rudder establishes a Post Commando in June of 1944. German prisoners are gathered and an American flag is deployed for signaling. Omaha Beach, Normandy, France.

First off Jerome could have thanked (or not thanked) whoever he wanted to thank with or without your approval. Second off most of the other allies involved were Europeans or were from countries listing the Queen of England as their head of state. They had a lot more to lose if France wasn't liberated. We had no obligation to get involved in the war in Europe at all. We could have just declared war on Japan after they attacked Pearl Harbor and concentrated on kicking their ass while keeping a close eye on Hitler and his pals just in case they got froggy and decided to bring the war to us. Germany declared war on us but we could have just flipped Adolph the bird and told him to come get some instead of bringing the war to him. Thirdly the only reason you even chimed in is you can't stand to see anything positive about the U S because of your personal hatred of our country.

It was a nasty war with no option but to win it. Anyone who had a hand in helping win it deserves a thank you. We all enjoyed a pretty nice life thanks to the brave people who beat down the Axis and the Axis was not easy to beat down.

As a man who had an Anderson shelter at the bottom of the garden I can appreciate jeromes post.
As an Englishman who basically fucked the nazi up the Arse in the Battle of Britain without the Americans who lets face jumped in at the end before hitter beged Geordie forgiveness .
I appreciate America neither fought anyone on their own except Japan .... About the size of the Isle of Man you big puffs .
I find your pompous attitude to the war in Europe amazing and look forward to your slow slow efforts in the next war in Europe .... Fucking bed wetting bud drinkers .
Oh I have Been out for the footy

I may be drunk ,I think I spelt hitler wrong
Oh I hope we pull every single American soldier, airman, Marine, and sailor out of every country around the world, especially the Middle East. I'll sit right here with a never ending supply of cheap beer and watch the rest of the world burn. England won't have any problem dealing with their troublemakers in country but the rest of the place? It's gonna be fuckee fuckeed.

bidgett bardot,
john a lacey,
JFK'S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60's when DeGaule decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaule said he wanted all US military out of France as soon as possible.
Rusk responded, "Does that include those who are buried here?"
DeGuale did not respond.

Russia beat Germany
The other Allies on the Western front only stopped Europe for all being communist for 50 years which was a worthwhile endevour.

He wasn't apologizing to Americans, he was apologizing to Allies...you don't have the right to speak for us, therefore you cannot say "no reason to apologize".
Jérôme obviously agrees with me.
First off, Jérôme did exactly that. He realized his mistake at not including all Allies and apologized for it...BEFORE I chimed in due to your ignorance. Second, the Queen didn't send us to war, our Parliament voted to go...because that's what Allies do. Third, I chimed in because you decided you had the right to speak for the Allies and say no apology needed. Again, you do NOT have that right. Third, I don't hate your country, but I do hate the arrogance and the way people in your country only recognize American contributions, and diminishes the contributions made by the Allies. Hollywood is the biggest offender....
I never demanded anything. Your reading comprehension skills are sadly lacking...
Second, who said she did? I was just pointing out certain countries connections to the British Empire or whatever you call it. Would you not agree it was more important to them to liberate France and defeat Germany than us at the time? Third. I have the right to say or post whatever I want whether you agree with it or not. Canada sucks big green donkey dicks. Third, you're a lying sack of shit. You bad mouth America every chance you get.
Depends on where you're at. Hell, when you lived up on Squidbey Island, you could practically see Canada from your house.
As for the border, this is about a mile from where my great grandmother lived in Lynden........
The van is in Canada. The car where the picture was taken from is in the US. The ditch that runs between the two roads is the border.
We like it that way. And the last time a terrorist tried to enter the US from Canada, he didn't even try jumping this ditch, he took the ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles. And got arrested in the process.
So we're doing just fine up here with our border security. We don't need no damn wall.

But it's not. This is the border you share with your closest neighbour (close both geography and culturally).
According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the length of the International Boundary line of the U.S.-Canadian border, excluding Alaska, is approximately*3,987 miles, while the length of the U.S.-Mexican border is estimated at 1,933 miles. The length of the Alaska-Canada border alone is*1,538 miles.
Wrong. You only have 4 states that border Mexico, but you have 13 that border Canada...and we have gun toting pick up truck driving Albertans (Canada's "Texas"). As for frog lovers in New Orleans, I assume you are referring to Cajuns....who are descended from the Acadians that were forced out of New France (now Canada) by the Brits.
YOU do not speak for all Americans. We are CLOSEST in relations. Our long undefended border, and our trade makes it so.
We are dependent on you, and you are dependent on us. And when I say "you", I mean all of America, not just you in particular.
Geographically, you have two neighbours...but who is your closest ally between the two? Hint.. I didn't see Mexico in New Orleans after Katrina....
When I say (or type and post in this case) I live closer to Mexico than Canada I'm not attempting to speak for "all Americans" but I could because I LIVE CLOSER TO MEXICO THAN CANADA. As far as the rest maybe/maybe not. The 13 million illegals living here strain our relationship with Mexico we still have to mantain a working relationship with them.
