New analog synth - Behringer DeepMind 12

There's been rumors that Behringer has been working on a fully analog polysynth. Then some hints and teaser pics, and now a prototype has been making the rounds.

12 voice analog with digital effects, a sequencer, and an arpeggiator, for about $1000. Similar to the old Roland Junos. When? Good question. Some say by the end of the year, maybe closer to winter NAMM.

Just about everyone has a video up about this thing. Affordable analog could pull some users away from VST's.

      SonicState review

Pretty much does what the Juno 106 plugout does on my System 8. Except DeepMind is 12 voice and the S8 is only 8 voice.

I was thinking that watching the SonicState review of the System 8.

I go the whole winter without mechanic's fingernails, soon they will be black by the end of the day.

Behringer is now developing a clone of the MiniMoog Model D. Uli Behringer claims it will retail around $400.

"Analog Synthesizer with 3 VCOs, 24 dB Ladder Filter, LFO, 16-Voice Poly Chain and Eurorack Format"

Behringer has also started making copies of some old Curtis IC's that were used in synths, and they have also registered the Oberheim OB-Xa name. Gibson must have let it lapse. A new OB-Xa without all the issues of a vintage one? Hmmm.

            Also:

We have 4 synthesizer development teams simultaneously working on 20 synths, drum machines etc..

We'll be creating both innovative new synths as well as reviving classics. We're all in and the teams are on fire.

            Exciting times!

            Uli
There are wish list threads on some of the gear forums. Arp 2600, early Roland SH and Jupiters, and a couple Yamahas are popular responses. Going to be interesting to see what they come up with.

Here's to hoping the OB-Xa clone is good.
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

You can get the DSI OB-6 for $3k now, or maybe Behringer will bring their OB clone in under a grand.

Dr. Fink and Lisa from Prince's old band the Revolution are using the DSI OB-6 on tour.
