The President-elect hires a talk show host accused of supporting a movement of "white nationalists" and "unabashed anti-Semites".





Donald Trump has dismayed opponents by appointing the head of Breitbart News as chief strategist of his administration.

Stephen Bannon, who quit as executive chairman of the American news network to help Mr Trump's campaign, will also act as his senior counsel.

Launched in 2007 with the aim of being "unapologetically pro-freedom and pro-Israel", Breitbart News has evolved into a platform for the burgeoning 'alt-right' movement that is vociferously opposed to multiculturalism and political correctness.

Former Goldman Sachs banker Mr Bannon holds a Masters in National Security Studies and an MBA from Harvard Business School, and he was an officer in the US Navy before joining Breitbart, where he hosted a radio show on its SiriusXM Patriot channel.

Mr Trump has also recruited the chairman of the Republican National Committee, Reince Priebus, to be his White House chief of staff, signalling a willingness to work with Congress to advance his agenda when he takes office in January.

Mr Priebus is a Republican Party operative with deep expertise of the Washington establishment that Mr Trump has vowed to shake up, and has close links with House Speaker Paul Ryan.

Mr Priebus will play a significant role in policy making and deciding what information makes it to Mr Trump's desk.

His appointment is seen as an olive branch to the Republicans who control both houses of Congress, to help Mr Trump pass the legislative agenda upon which he campaigned.

"I am very grateful to the president-elect for this opportunity to serve him and this nation as we work to create an economy that works for everyone, secure our borders, repeal and replace Obamacare and destroy radical Islamic terrorism," Mr Priebus said.

Commentators expect Mr Trump to consider Republican loyalist Newt Gingrich and former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani for the posts of secretary of state and attorney general, while Sarah Palin is also being touted as a candidate for a role in his government.

America's Anti-Defamation League, which campaigns to fight "anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry", condemned Mr Bannon's appointment, describing the alt-right movement supported by Breitbart News as "a loose-knit group of white nationalists, unabashed anti-Semites and racists".

John Weaver, a Republican political consultant who was John Kasich's chief strategist, tweeted: "The racist, fascist extreme right is represented footsteps from the Oval Office. Be very vigilant America."

Former Barack Obama adviser Dan Pfeiffer noted: "Nation exhales because white nationalist only gets second most influential job in White House."

Mr Trump said: "Steve and Reince are highly qualified leaders who worked well together on our campaign and led us to an historic victory.

"Now I will have them both with me in the White House as we work to make America great again."

According to The New York Times, Trump spokesperson Kellyanne Conway “denied that Mr. Bannon had a connection to right-wing nationalists or that he would bring those views to the White House. ‘I’m personally offended that you think I would manage a campaign where that would be one of the going philosophies,’ she said.”

I cannot find any instances of Bannon explicitly denying any connections to the white nationalist movement, or decrying its worldview. We’ve asked the Trump campaign for comment on Bannon’s white nationalism (or lack thereof), but as of the time of publication, we have yet to hear back. Bannon has, however, described right-wing nationalists as “patriots” who “just want their country taken care of.”

Still, the internet’s most dedicated neo-Nazis appear to feel a staunch kinship to Bannon, and many users on Stormfront see Bannon’s appointment as the first step in their imminent rise to power.

In a thread celebrating Bannon’s appointment, user SaveAustraliaFromInvasion wrote that Trump’s win “is going to bring out the White Pride in ourselves ... He’s employing racially aware, alt right people, he’s been praised by nationalist leaders in Europe, people who once judged him are now sucking up ... and many other people are changing their ways because of the future president.”



We should note that Bannon’s status isn’t unanimous on the Stormfront boards: User PolishSlavAryan writes that while Bannon may not be a white nationalist himself, he’s at least sympathetic to the cause.

Not everyone was immediately on board, though.



If you’ll recall, before working in media (owned by Jews), Steve Bannon was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs (also owned by Jews). How could a man who has worked so closely with the JEW MEDIA and the JEW BANKERS be one of Stormfront’s own?

This is, of course, also Newt Gingrich’s exact argument.

Still, the users worried that Bannon isn’t quite anti-Semitic enough are few and far between compared to those that are positively stoked to see him at Trump’s side. Many Stormfront users believe that Bannon holds their same (or at least, very nearly the same) white-centric beliefs and values close to his heart.

An ISIS commander in Afghanistan said the terror group is expecting a recruitment boom after the election of Donald Trump.

"This guy is a complete maniac. His utter hate towards Muslims will make our job much easier because we can recruit thousands," Abu Omar Khorasani told Reuters.

ISIS has not issued any official statements on the election. Trump was not mentioned in the Islamic State's weekly newspaper last week, al-Naba, nor in the new issue of their monthly magazine, Rumiyah.

They did issue a pre-election voters guide that said both candidates were unacceptable and justified killing anyone, but especially Muslims, who cast a ballot because they were participating in democracy.

Some prominent ISIS supporters on Twitter have hailed the results, with one whose account has been suspended saying "the dog Trump's victory in the U.S. elections is a gold mine for Muslims not a setback if they know how to use it."

Another suspended Algerian ISIS supporter named Mohamed Aljazairie tweeted, "Congratulations to the Muslim nation over the infidel Trump's victory. His stupid statements alone serve us."

The first official statements about Trump's victory did come from an Afghan terror group: the Taliban.

"Our message is that he should give U.S. government a policy of not depriving freedom of other nations of the world and should not seek American interests in the destruction and conviction of other nations, so to make the world safer and end the ongoing crisis," Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement a week ago.

"Most importantly, he should withdraw all U.S. troops from Afghanistan, and unlike other former U.S. rulers, he should neither seek any more titles of ignominy for his self and American generals, nor worsen the American prestige, economy and military by engaging in this futile war," Mujahid added.
