California, at Forefront of Climate Fight, Won’t Back Down to Trump

“We’ve got the lawyers and we’ve got the scientists and are ready to fight,” Mr. Brown declared in a speech in San Francisco earlier this month to the American Geophysical Union. “We’re ready to win.”

Kasich Vetoes Bill Weakening Clean-Energy Standards

Gov. John Kasich has vetoed a bill that would weaken the state's clean-energy standards, saying that the measure "amounts to self-inflicted damage to both our state's near- and long-term economic competitiveness."

Wow, even a life-long ALEC member like Kasich is finally waking up to the reality of climate change. Is it too late for him to accept the Trump kids' offer and put him in as "vice" President instead of Pence?

Sure, he would still be wrong on most other things, but at this point even partial sanity would be an upgrade.

Supposedly we're getting wind turbines out on the lake. Contractors and component manufacturers are already lining up.

It's really too bad that they can't find somebody locally (or at least from somewhere in Ohio) who can build them, rather than hiring a bunch of Norwegians to do it. Not that the Norwegians wouldn't do quality work, more than likely, but boosting the local economy should be as much as a benefit from energy & infrastructure projects as the clean energy itself is.

That was my first thought but I guess there is a big turbine installation in Norway that the same company built. I don't think I'd want First Energy handling this project. They have enough trouble with their nuke plants.

They're planning on having the components made in state. When Cedar Point has a new coaster built the tracks are made at a shop near Cincinnati.

Norway funded a massive renewable program by selling billions of barrels of their oil to other countries as though they somehow live on a different planet.

I guess their argument would be that the benefits will come in the future and selling their tech to us now would be part of that.

I've seen those on the way to TO.

The turbines here will be 7 to 10 miles off downtown Cleveland.

I'm so sorry, this is just terrible and a shameful indictment on the US education system.

You can at least read and write which is something, can I ask what education did you get?

Your inability to see the humor in the poor grammar and improper sentences is a direct reflection of a simpleton taking himself too seriously. As usual, you didn't address the issue and took issue with an education system that has produced the finest minority criminals and illiterate malcontents.

As to my education, I have worthless computer engineering degree and a minor degree as a business major. Both of these degrees were denigrated by one of the site moderators.

In 2008, I shuttered a business in Tampa due to the incoming administration and their socialist view of how I earned my my living and chose to distribute company earnings. For example, the Gibson Guitar company experienced the same adjudication I would have been subjected to and this was due to their political ideology with regard to Gibson's principled and well founded beliefs.

Save the feigned indignation for the leftists that have no goals and are dependent on public tax dollars for their existence but more importantly have allowed their lives to be affected by the judgement of others and their collective opinions.

And now it's global COOLING! Return of Arctic ice cap as it grows by 29% in a year

533,000 more square miles of ocean covered with ice than in 2012

BBC reported in 2007 global warming would leave Arctic ice-free in summer by 2013

Publication of UN climate change report suggesting global warming caused by humans pushed back to later this month

A chilly Arctic summer has left 533,000 more square miles of ocean covered with ice than at the same time last year – an increase of 29 per cent.

The rebound from 2012’s record low comes six years after the BBC reported that global warming would leave the Arctic ice-free in summer by 2013.

Why are you pulling an article from 3 years ago in the Daily Mail (the UK National Enquirer) about Artic ice coverage when it is currently at the lowest it's ever been?

You are not a climate scientist and neither am I. Where your education system has failed you is that you don't know how the scientific method works. You don't understand global science and how it is funded and by whom. You don't understand the motivation of scientists and you refuse to consider that fossil fuel companies have been campaigning and feeding propaganda and doubt into the system.

If we had the internet in the 1970s you would have been the guy shouting that lung cancer caused by smoking was a hoax and just an excuse to tax cigarettes.

I used to post on a motor oil/automotive site. A 5L jug of synthetic motor oil is like nearly $100 in Norway. We can go to Walmart and buy the same here for like $23 and get a $10-12 rebate on it! Crazy...

Well my dumbfuckistanian, the "arctic ice" is not the same. It's thin ice covering the surface not the same thick ice that was eons old that has melted. It's the shitty thin ice that ebbs and flows...

Another climate denier shithead red herring...

Let me guess, once everybody in the world is driving a battery powered car, the "global warming" issues will be cured.

How are you going to recharge these batteries? With electricity from a windmill? Ha ha ha ha ha!!

How are you going to dispose of these batteries? Batteries in general are an environmental nightmare. Hell, they can't even get a little ole cell phone battery to survive long, or keep from blowing up. So, I can imagine a landfill full of dead Tesla batteries will be a great thing!

How are you going to maintain the motors in the windmills, that require oil, grease and lubricants? What are you going to do with these hulking pieces of shit when they inevitably become giant rusting eyesores? How are you going to resolve the mold issues that I know for a fact is an issue with them? (Yes, I know this isn't publicly talked about, as it is being swept under the rug by the people making the money off these things.)

But hey, you dumbfucks keep believing what you're being told, because it's what you think you want to hear. If you live long enough, you'll find out you've been scammed yet again by those controlling the purse strings.

No, but it certainly would be a big step in the right direction.

I'm already on record as saying that the goal should be for every home to have their own car recharging station powered by wind, solar, or both.

Fair question. Batteries are the most problematic issue when it comes to electric vehicles. Why don't we take some of the billion dollars wasted on wars for perpetuating 18th century oil technology, and instead spend it on research to solve 21st century problems, like battery disposal, or preventing them from occasionally torching themselves.

How are you going to maintain the motors in the windmills, that require oil, grease and lubricants?
Make them from domestically grown Hemp, rather than dead dinosaurs & long ago rotted plants, buried under Muslim shitholes.

I hate rebates unless they're instant. I'd just as soon get a free oil filter or one of those drain pans that double as a container to take your oil back to the store to get rid of it.

Last time I got one of those disposable drain pans the goddamn thing leaked on the way to the hazmat center at the county garbage dump. Great idea in principle, but if you cant transport it to where ever you're going to dispose of it, that's a problem.

I prefer the reusable ones but I usually just pour my used oil into the jug my new oil came in so I can just set it behind the local AutoZone and let them handle it.

I have a Motive Power Extractor for the car

and dump the oil back into the Mobil jugs. My friend has a 55 gallon drum at his shop, another shop picks up the full drum and they burn the waste oil.

The Jeeps are all tall enough for me to roll my F A T ass under but that used oil goes in the same drum.

Brake and other fluids get collected twice a year at hazmat collection day. Save your old washer fluid bottles and rinse them well, then transfer oil or whatever into them. I wouldn't trust the lids on the collection pans for transit.

A lot of them are uploads now and pretty much hassle free...

The local oil and gas company, Noco, comes around and takes the oil (most to the dirty oil here) and either burns it to heat/power their factory or recycles it...

I've heard good things about the power extractor but I would be neurotic not draining the old oil out as I'd be worried about sediment building up in the bottom of the pan...

If (when) I get a lift I'll get the car in the air. Until then the extractor will have to do.

I have their power brake bleeder as well. that thing is equally as awesome. No need for a helper. Pump it up and make your way around the car, brakes bled in no time.

Really? How? Please be specific. In your own words, not some internet bullshit you've read, or want to try to link me too. Enlighten me on the inefficiencies of the internal combustion engine while you're on a roll with your own words.

Sounds economically feasible. Should every apartment be required to have one too? Attached condo's? I'm sure the electric companies would rather you make your own electricity, as opposed to buying theirs.

Great idea. Spend our money on batteries, instead of defense. Because the rest of the world can be trusted. I'm sure they'd never wait until we fell way behind, because we're working on batteries, and then attack us.

    Yep, that's gonna happen.

Clean the mold off these things with vinegar? Ha ha ha! Dry ice is fucking CO2. We cleaned those fucking hulking piece of shit monstrosities, and the mold came back in short order. It would be a full time job for an army of people to clean one fucking windmill farm. Have you ever stood under one of these things? Do you realize exactly how big they are? Do you know how dangerous it is to even get up to the top of them? Do you realize what kind of machinery is required just to get to the blades to clean them? Oh, wait, maybe we can send guys up in battery powered Power Wheels machines to do that job! Ha ha ha! All sounds so fucking easy from a KEYBOARD! Keep typing FORD! Not to mention, you addressed the mold issue, rather lamely if I don't say so myself, but you did address it. But what about the rusting hulks these fuckers are going to become, in not that long of a time frame? They're made of steel. Probably the cheapest Chinese steel the manufacturers can find. Those fuckers have zero chance of standing the test of time.

Last but not least. How many kilowatts are one of those gigantic hunks of shit putting out, if it is working 100%, which they rarely do?

The speech by former US Vice-President Al Gore was apocalyptic. ‘The North Polar ice cap is falling off a cliff,’ he said. ‘It could be completely gone in summer in as little as seven years. Seven years from now.’

Those comments came in 2007 as Mr Gore accepted the Nobel Peace Prize for his campaigning on climate change.

The most widely used measurements of Arctic ice extent are the daily satellite readings issued by the US National Snow and Ice Data Center, which is co-funded by Nasa. These reveal that – while the long-term trend still shows a decline – last Monday, August 25, the area of the Arctic Ocean with at least 15 per cent ice cover was 5.62 million square kilometres.

This was the highest level recorded on that date since 2006 (see graph, right), and represents an increase of 1.71 million square kilometres over the past two years – an impressive 43 per cent.
