I actually always like Bronson as Bond. The only Bond I really ever hated was Timothy Dalton's, stuck in way over his head...

      Dalton was totally forgettable.

I didn't know Charles Bronson had played Bond. j/k

Actually, Bronson might have made a good Bond! That understated, minimalist menace he brought to the rest of his films would have been amusing to watch within the context of a Bond movie where gadgets and stunts are exploding all around him...

Or did you mean Bronson Pinchot? Did he star in the 'James Bond: Cousin Larry, Don't Be Ridiculous!' series?

I will say the Brosnan Bond flicks did have some good stunts in them.

Very much so. He claims by now he has fucked most of the Bond girls. Not at the time of course but through doing 40 years of conventions with them.

The story goes that FYEO was made 'darker' in the same way as later Casino Royale was because Roger Moore had already handed in his notice that he was too old so the movie was going to be a new Bond. As it turned out he was persuaded to stay and he ended up doing another 3 with mixed results.

There is a good argument to be made that usually the first Bond movie an actor makes is his best ignoring Connery that is OHMSS, Live And Let Die, Living Daylights, Golden Eye and Casino Royale. I'm not sure why that happens, maybe they made more of an effort on the scripts under the pressure of selling a new Bond...

A little too old and a little too unconvincing in the fight scenes. Particularly when he was pitted up against someone like Jonathan Pryce as the Bond villain: I mean, shit, it looked like a catfight between two mildly effeminate maitre d's, fer fuckssake. When Craig took over from Brosnan, [Craig] brought back some of that brute masculinity that the series needed, and I think the Craig films rebooted the series and produced a level of quality not seen since the late 1970s with Moore.
I don't agree with the "mildly effeminate maitre d's" comment but funny as fuck and kudos to you! I think Brosnan may not have been the tough-guy Bond but was instead the asymmetric killer type you don't quite expect making him a bit plausible...

If you actually read the novels, Craig is by far the closest to the actual literary Bond. A bit of a macho self-hating hard drinker with a conscience, that didn't just fucking drink shaken martinis...

Moore was my favorite Bond. Think I only saw one with Brosnan. Haven't seen any since.

I prefer Matt Helm over Bond.

My favorite Brosnan moment was in a movie called Taffin where he delivers a line in a crazy way.

This was noticed by a couple of DJs (one of whom Joe Cornish went on to become a director) and it all went a bit viral.

To be sure, the Craig approach to the character is probably the closest out of all the filmic Bonds as to how Fleming actually wrote Bond in terms of personality type. At least that's the impression I got from watching the Craig films.

I've just never been able to buy into Brosnan as being tough...or macho. Perhaps my fag waiter characterization was a BIT hyperbolic, but there's just nothing menacing or intimidating about Brosnan to me whenever I've watched him onscreen...in anything.

I don't know why, Sesh, but those various Brosnan living here remixes literally have me laughing until I'm crying.

I think I'll take the 10 minute one and use it for my alarm clock.

Seriously, the thing that stands out most to me about the Brosnan Bond flicks are the stunts, particularly the car gags.

LOL I remember Brosnan as "Remington Steele" as sort of a dandy detective more into wits than fisticuffs though I never watched more than 10 minutes of it and thought this guy never should do Bond. I did like most of his movies though, but the Jonathon Price media mogul villain one sucked...

I think it was the beginning of novel From Russia With Love that James was sitting in a Mexico City bar swilling tequila and cheap beer all the while thinking that he'd become a cheap assassin whore rather than the special investigator action man he'd always fancied himself after killing a heroin cartel leader....
