Washed up Right Wing Asshole Ex Game Show Host Goes on Jew Bashing Twitter Spree

Game show host Chuck Woolery accused of anti-Semitism after series of controversial tweets

Chuck Woolery, the well-coiffed former Wheel of Fortune and Love Connection host, has recently complained that his right-wing views have prevented him from finding work in Hollywood. His foray, via Twitter, into the complex relationship between the European Jewish diaspora, German philosophy and the rise of socialism in 20th century Russia is unlikely to have Burbank's best producers rushing to their phones.

Woolery is no neophyte to the profitable business of attacking and riling liberals and Democrats, often with lines that could have been borrowed from Rush Limbaugh. For example, when telling FOXBusiness earlier in May that his politics stopped him getting work, he added his observation the “left is really operating on all German ideas instead of American ideas.” While this could be a reference to the moral philosophy of Enlightenment-era Immanuel Kant, it far more likely an allusion to Adolf Hitler.

Woolery has also made known his suspicion of Islam, tweeting last week in response to the suicide bombing in Manchester, England:

If we are not careful, thIs Islamic Religion of peace is gonna get us all killed. Liberals will make us all victims if you allow it.
    8:39 PM - 23 May 2017

While he may no longer be a television mainstay, Woolery is the host of a short podcast, Blunt Force Truth, in which he uses his once-ubiquitous baritone to harangue the right’s favorite targets: “liberal nitwits,” “socialist” Europe and the Arab World. One recent segment, for example, involved a tortured joke about liberals and “rectal cranial infusion,” whatever that is. The New York Times, in a measured assessment, called him “a firebrand who takes particular delight in fricasseeing liberal celebrities.”

It is unclear why Woolery chose Memorial Day to expound on his theories about Judaism and socialism. Those theories, such as they are, are neither new nor correct. Karl Marx, the principal author of The Communist Manifesto, was Jewish, but his forebears’ religion played no known role in the formation of his world-changing theories of history, social organization and the interactions between capital and labor.

In 1942, the historian Solomon F. Bloom wrote that “Antisemitic enemies of Marxism have naturally made the most of the Jewish origin and ancestry of its principal leader in order to confound at one blow both Judaism and socialism.” It looks as if Woolery borrowed from this very playbook.

As for Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin, his own Jewish background is even more tenuous. While he did have Jewish roots, these were distant and not at all known by his Bolshevik compatriots or his Soviet subjects.

But in broadly blaming Jews for the debacle that was Soviet Communism, Woolery has an unlikely ally: Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, the Nobel Prize-winning author of One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, the famous 1962 chronicle of the gulags. In 2003, Solzhenitsyn—an ethnic Russian who tended toward Slavophilia—published Two Hundred Years Together. The opaque title was “a reference to the 1772 partial annexation of Poland and Russia which greatly increased the Russian Jewish population,” as The Guardian explained. The book caused a furor for seeming blaming some of the worst depredations of Soviet rule on Jews while downplaying the abuses Jews faced, especially under Stalin.

In defending the book, Solzhenitsyn said, “I have never made general conclusions about a people. I will always differentiate between layers of Jews. One layer rushed headfirst to the revolution. Another, to the contrary, was trying to stand back.”

A review of Solzhenitsyn's book on the website of white nationalist David Duke praises the author, a “grand old man,” for revealing “the awe-inspiring extent of the Jewish domination of the Soviet Union during its first two decades of existence.”

Reactions to Woolery’s tweet were, for the most part, critical:

Chuck Woolery is going on a full on anti-German & anti-Semitic rant. This is what right wing "thinking" is becoming these days.

I just found out that Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, Pinochet, Hitler, Idi Amin, and Chuck Woolery are all non-Jews. Christ? Still Jewish.

    6:25 PM - 29 May 2017
Woolery tried to explain himself later in the afternoon:

    Chuck Woolery

    @chuckwoolery

Amazing to me, I point out that Marx and Lenin were Jewish, Fact of history, and now I'm being called anti Semitic? why do people do this?
    5:35 PM - 29 May 2017
Woolery might be heartened to know that he has support on Gab, a social network that has recently gained favor with the extreme right. One user called him “Chuck ‘No More Jewish Tomfoolery’ Woolery," while another suggested the Holocaust was a hoax.

How this will affect Woolery's triumphant return to Hollywood is unknown.

Woolery is right in the same boat as Scott Baio, Victoria Jackson, Susan Olsen and any other number of celebs who are decades past their heyday:

They all turn out to be self-professed right wing wacko douchebags, but their careers had dropped off and their own personal brand of celebrity had peaked 20+ years BEFORE the broad American public found out about their political leanings. None of those I mentioned had been getting steady or good work LONG before their various radio/tv/internet ranting, so their whole "Hollywood hates conservatives" excuse rings hollow.

I mean, Clint Eastwood has been a widely known conservative for decades. It didn't stop people from enjoying his movies, and I'd tend to doubt just conservatives were going to see his movies. The reason? Eastwood associates himself with good material. Victoria Jackson made a lot of bad movie choices early in her career when she was doing SNL. Susan Olsen willingly attached herself to every single Brady-related project/revival after the initial tv series ended, and most of those projects were pretty dismal. Baio had success in a couple of successful sitcoms. Woolery was a cheesy game show host. I mean, to me, Olsen, Jackson, Baio and Woolery have managed to stretch a fairly meager amount of talent an awfully long way. If anything, they should be thankful they got as far as they did in the business to begin with, and not whining about how their charmless public displays of conservatism are preventing them from having a comeback that wasn't going to happen anyway.

I only have 689 more posts of Van Hagar related parsing to go until I reach the magic 10,000 total.

Should I just start posting them directly into the Elvis Forum, or...?

Clint Eastwood didn't really become one of "those" Republicans until he went senile and started yelling at empty chairs on stage...

I've been to Carmel CA, where he used to be Mayor. In fact, he probably was still the Mayor last time I was there. It wasn't at all like being in a "red state", or Hell..... even as bad as Orange County CA. Probably more idle rich folks who like ridiculous tax cuts more than anything..... considering it's just a little bit south of the Pebble Beach Golf Course, and a gas station that was selling gas for $4/gallon when Bill Clinton was still in the White House.

I didn't see Clint when I was there, but some of the locals told me, he was just a "regular guy" when they see him around town. Doubt anybody would say that about Chuck Woolery.... or his hero Herr Cheeto.

Never have been a Kathy Griffin fan. Terrible waste of red hair, really. Her latest stunt was kind of stupid, but nothing to get hysterical over. As opposed to the Stormtrumpers who actually MURDER people on light rail trains, for example.

                Nah, not really.

In point of fact, I'd be content not to hear any political views from any celebrities, even if they're advocating for a candidate I plan to vote for. Said endorsements have never swayed me one way or the other in terms of voting for a candidate anyway, not have they deterred me from enjoying the entertainment a celebrity provided prior to me knowing whatever their political stripes were if I had already enjoyed the work.

I still loves me a good Chuck Norris movie, even though apparently on a personal level Mr. Norris and I are dissimilar.

Plus, I have to say that, otherwise Chuck will roundhouse my ass...

I still like the same Mel Gibson movies I had already liked prior to finding out he was a total wack-job.

And Katy Perry advocating for Hillary Clinton last fall didn't make me reappraise what I thought of her music, despite my voting for Clinton.

For all the recent blather about liberals being snowflakes, it's not like conservatives are in any way less whiny. I mean, sorry, but it's not like I can forget all the crybaby bs non-Obama voters pissed and moaned about for the last 8 years.

And Trump is really about the thinnest-skinned President we've had since Nixon. Probably more demonstrably thin-skinned, because at least while he was in the WH Nixon managed for the most part to keep his soft underbelly hidden from public view. And that has been the case WELL before this Griffin pic surfaced. The behavior was on display throughout the campaign, but it intensified after Trump got sworn in.

Trump is a President who so clearly lets critiques get under his skin and irritate him. Even on strictly policy stuff: did Trump not think or even know such criticisms on policy from the opposing party were par for the course? Or that it takes more than just a tweet to get Congress to do what you want? Had nobody told him this prior to the election? Has nobody told him this since?

That Trump is obviously rattled on a personal level by such things...I mean, he should learn how to let much of it roll off his back. Short of that, he's going to be one sorry son of a gun at the end of the day. Just ask Richard Nixon...or Lyndon Johnson.

And it's hard to feel an ounce of sympathy for Trump now being buried by an avalanche of leaks and criticism. He ran an insult-laden campaign, denigrating virtually everybody but himself and those attending his rallies along the way. He continued to insult the Congress, the government bureaucracy, plenty of the members of the military leadership and various intelligence agencies...all of this AFTER he was elected. He was unapologetic about who he was. Now he's getting pushback.

He is reaping what he sowed. And it all starts with him. Not his staff. Not the Congress. Not the media. Those are the side effects of his behavior. Trump hasn't yet demonstrated he understands this. Until he does, he can only expect more of the same directed toward him.

Griffin decorated a stupid mask and apologized for it. Shitpants Nugent said President Obama should suck on a machine gun, and he got invited to the goddamned White House by the same sentient Cheeto who is now losing his mind over this dumb stunt.
