Grandpa Simpson is losing it, mentally. And everybody noticed.... his staff released a statement with the excuse that he was up too late last night watching a Diamondbacks game. Yeah, right......
Someone had it on at work and I was on break. He's calling the wrong person president and stumbling over his words...and I'm sitting there thinking who keeps voting for this guy?
I'm not even sure what point McCain was trying to make about the double standard between the Clinton private server investigation having been concluded and the Trump campaign connections to Russia not having been concluded: like there was some kind of duplicity on Comey's part because he was, what, obliged to conclude the Trump campaign Russian connections investigation merely because the Clinton private server investigation HAD been concluded?
I mean, even parsing through McCain's jumbling of names, the larger point McCain was trying to illustrate just seemed peculiar: let's say Comey did buckle to pressure by the AG in 2016 to conclude the Clinton investigation. Does that somehow mean Comey should have also buckled to pressure by the President in 2017 to conclude the Russia investigation? Is that the point McCain was trying make? That's what I got out of it.
Scramby eggs and bacon.
McCain had a, for him, fairly competitive primary last year, in which he squeaked out a 51% win in a 4-person race. The percentage result wasn't close, but the actual primary voter numbers weren't that far apart. He got 53% in the general in the fall, but who knows what could have happened if it had been a two person race instead of a three person/three party race.
I mean, for a guy who has been in the Senate as long as he has and has the name recognition he has, those are some pretty dismal numbers. Particularly the general election one. To be sure, he won, but none of those numbers bode well for 2022 (assuming he makes it to that race).
The fun continues today with AG Jeff Sessions due to talk, this should be good....
Will he be wearing his formal CSA dress uniform to the hearing?
Yours is just a replica though. Sessions was actually there.
