The planet is fine. The people are fucked. Mother earth could shake us off like a bunch of fleas. That lava flow just efficiently disposed of a car. Now everything that was in that car is part of the earth again. The planet will be here long after us motherfuckers are dead and gone.

Human impact is no longer questionable where climate change is concerned... enough facts to support the claims exist.

To me, the serious question is... Do we understand all the workings of the planet to correct our impact without fucking something else up..?

I'm not sure humans can correct what's been done... We can't just turn off today's power generation even is we wanted to. Odds are, as Nitro so eloquently stated, it's more like we are so insignificant to the forces of nature that many other natural events will alter our existence long before we hose it up ourselves...

Who gives a shit about the planet if there are no humans on it?

It's not like there is a shortage of uninhabited planets in the universe.

Had some "extended family" members who lived in Leilani Estates. They apparently don't even know if their house still exists or not, because they can't get back in to find out. They're doing OK otherwise, temporarily relocating to Arizona. Guess if you have to move from the tropics to the desert, it's better to do so now than in the middle of the summer.

No because people can't even solve climate change without turning it into a scam. Sorry. China is so polluted you can taste the air but they get a free pass but we have to pay out the ass. We aren't fixing shit. We can't even make a government work so how are we going to save the planet? The truth is the earth is always in a constant state of change and maybe we affect it some but one super volcano blowing is going to do more damage than we can do with maybe the exception of having a thermal nuclear war. So open up a bottle of Jim Beam and celebrate the sun came up for another day and try and get laid before it comes up again because that's all we pretty much want anyways.

Yeah but that is all just nonsense.

Each American causes 4 or 5 times more CO2 than a Chinese guy per person. Saying the world could be destroyed by a super volcano is just a non argument. You have to pay what out your ass?

Estimates to fix climate change run at about a couple of % of GDP for a few years, which is absolutely nothing compared to how much the super rich just skimmed off you in the latest tax scam.

If you live long enough you'll spend your old age watching the US economy collapse as Florida goes under water.

Well we aren’t going to fix shit and we probably will wipe ourselves out with nukes before climate change gets us.

I'd be curious to read how absorbed Co2 can be reduced in a practical manner for a couple of % of GDP..?

It's not that complicated to reduce current emissions... but the more challenging aspect is what to do with the tons of previous and current absorbed output from fossil fuels that sits within the oceans and major bodies of water on the planet. It's not just whats gone into the air because it doesn't just stay in the air... then there's also all the stuff that's within organic matter collected from the last 4 billion years or so...

                            Keep dreaming TARDO.

5000 years ago the coastline of Florida was about 100 miles further out. So global warming was a natural thing to happen. Here's how it worked but don't tell the other TARDOs:

Back then, the seas would rise and the people would move inland.

Now, we have global warming TARDOs and they're a much smarter and more progressive human.

Here's how they work: The TARDO blames himself for the sea rise and spends billions so they can stay put.

There is no "fix" for climate planet warming change global eco whatever the fuck. It's a hoax. There's no zombies or vampires or witches or werewolves or Godzillas.

The ice age global warming causing volcanos chart has been attached for clarification.

Volcanoes are natural. Oil refineries are not. I can't do a damn thing to stop Mt. St Helens (or any of the other sleeping giants in the Cascade range) but I damn well can stop pipelines from going through Cascadia, or trains with coal pollution from using this area as a path to China.

Speaking of China, they may have created a shitload of pollution in a relatively short time period, but at least they have seen the reality of it, and are now building green infrastructure where ever they can. Ironically, it's with all the money they now have because the BCE and corporatist fake "democrats" have outsourced all the jobs over there.

All of that money could have been building green infrastructure here. Along with the money wasted on PNAC wars, which have mostly been about controlling what very little remains of the oil to run the 19th century engnes which should have been extinct by now.

I just don't give much weight to worries about Florida sinking under the Gulf/Atlantic... Our landmasses are not static. The crust of the Earth is in constant movement... although it's just inches/millimeters per decade. There are parts of the central continental US that were at one time a sea floor.

I'm mostly convinced a lot of this effort around global climate change are fueled more by our imaginations and really poor sense of the time coupled with pure arrogance that we are smart enough and/or powerful enough to effect planetary conditions. Not to say we know nothing... just saying we don't know enough about all the variables to truly get any of this correct...
