    Unreleased "Shine the Light" History

I can't remember if I mentioned this years ago when I found out, but was rocking out to this tune the other day and thought I'd post about it.

This song actually derives from my hometown, Pittsburgh's-own Granati Brothers. You may know them as "G-Force," one of VH's opening acts in the early '80s. I always liked this song so much and one day decided to try search again to see if it's a cover or not (which I had done before a few times), and came across:

I THINK, if I remember correctly, when I e-mailed one of the guys they said they wrote it for Dave but wasn't aware it was on Dave TV.

    Here's the live version:

I seen that dude singing locally before a few times at the dueling piano bars. Very good entertainer from what I remember. They all seem to be. I guess they used to be acrobatic back in their heyday opening for our boys. More acrobatic than Diamond Dave though? Couldn't be possible.

I guess they got Gregg Bissonette plaing on their most recent album, too.

I don't know why, but I love that song. Always have since I heard it first in the late '90s on his web show.

Oh, and also "Tramp" was by some band called Stray Dog.

Granati Brothers played between DLR's and Hagar's sets at Post-Gazette Pavilion in '02. Somewhere off the main stage...I left after Dave's set and walked by them as they played.

I think they need to lower the key, it was too high for Dave too.

No shit? Missed that because of the beer run.

I take it you were at Game 1 at Blossom, too?

The version out there is surely just an early demo that never got wings.

Beefed up it could have been a classic DLR tune, just bad timing in 1992. Dave's band was collapsing into hired guns and grunge was happening...

Yup. 15th row or so at Blossom that night.

PGH was an almost last minute decision. Bought my ticket Saturday for the Sunday show.

Later that summer, we were halfway to Buffalo when Von called and said turn around, show's canceled.

Aw man that sucks! In the middle of a road trip, shit. Yeah I hit Cleveland, Columbus, and then after Pgh, Hershey. I was gonna do Buffalo for my 5th and final of the tour because everyone (Mike and even Gary) was gonna be there and thought that'd be historical, but apparently they aced them because they couldn't get along? Funny how obvious that is but it took the last few shows of the tour in NY for that to actually take effect.

"Sam Hagar. Always knockin' at my dressing room door. A bottle of Cabo Wabo Tequila in one hand, and his dick in the other." And that was Dave being nice ha haaaa.

I'm a Sammy guy, too, but there's no beating DLR at wit and ball-bustin'. Funniest rock and roller of all time.

Dave and the other guy show in Buffalo would have been the first big meet-up. We had to wait another couple years for Casino Rama, and then we topped that attendance in '07 for the second Toronto show.
