I think Wolfgang Van Halen will be okay.

Let's not forget his mom also has a few bucks in the bank, and far as common sense goes, from appearances Wolfgang takes more after her than Ed.

To be sure, Wolfgang might not be able to afford to live in a California mansion for the rest of his life, but he's probably not going to be standing out on a street corner holding a sign upon which he block printed WILL SUCK COCK FOR FOOD.

Wolf has his own million dollar house already with living expenses, California tax liability and shrinking income potential. Plus factor in the current, younger & healthy Mrs Eddie Van Halen who will most likely outlive Ed by decades. So Ed's wealth or what's left of it when he eventually checks out won't all shift to the kid.

What do you figure royalties for the entire Van Halen catalog generate today..? I'd be really surprised if it's even thousands of dollars annually split among all the still living primary stakeholders and record companies. EVH Gear is owned by Fender so Ed probably only earns a small percentage from those product sales. Those stripped flip-flops aren't going to be all the rage for much longer...

Unless Wolfgang has an awakening... his best bet would be to reach out to Janie Hendrix, learn the ropes and develop his own 40 year plan to squeeze out every drop of life from the vaults!!
I'm far from an expert in this shit, but the guy who wrote "The Waitresses" catalogue gets over $30K a year from their Christmas Song alone when it's not used on a film. If it is, it goes over $100K minimum...

I wouldn't worry too much about their finances. Ed is worth over $100 million according to online sites...

Probably so. Wolf probably will live in some smaller home or apartment somewhere. Lot's of kids like that in NYC. They live in small apartments and live on a trust fund. You don't get to party down in the Hamptons unless your parents are billionaires. Joseph Kennedy made enough money three generations of Kennedys lived large before they burned through that money.

I mean, even if one takes at face value the online net worth estimates of Ed (100 million) and Valerie (20 million)...or even if you lop off half of that and say that Ed is worth 50 million and Valerie is worth 10 million, let's also not forget that Alex Van Halen is also worth a significant amount of money.

I'd also imagine that Valerie was looking out for Wolfgang's interests via lawyers re: Ed's will when Ed married the porn fluffer - er, I mean, "adult film production assistant" - several years back, to ensure Wolfgang would be taken care of.

To be sure, if Ed died, it'd be possible that Wolfgang could live way beyond whatever means were provided for him and piss through all the money.

I used to work for a firm that did estate planning. Just because someone made a lot of money doesn't necessarily mean they hung onto that money. I have seen so many people that should have had nice retirements but unfortunately they got the wrong financial advice or manager or just blew it themselves. You have no idea where anyone is financially until you look at their equity and liabilities and their cash flow.

Yeah, I mean, I haven't the slightest idea about Eddie's bottom line in terms of his finances. Doubtless plenty of rock stars, star athletes and wealthy entertainers have went broke over the years. I haven't the slightest idea who would get what in terms of Eddie's estate (or what that estate even consists of) if Eddie died tomorrow.

I tend to think Eddie is doing okay based on assumptions of how infrequently the band have been touring over the last ten years - it's not like they're out on the road every year (or even every other year) frantically gigging in order to stay afloat. While I have no idea what percentage of the guarantees Wolfgang got from those three Van Halen tours he played on, I'd have to imagine the guy has some decent money of his own now.

Estimates I've seen usually say he is worth about $85 million.

Wolfgang is estimated to have a net worth of around 10 million, which doesn't sound unreasonable considering he has undertaken 3 successful tours with Van Halen over the last decade.

Who knows where that figure comes from but let's say it can be inferred Wolfgang made $10 million from touring. Is that net or gross? Then of course it's what he made and not necessarily what he's worth. Wolfgang could have blown it on expensive whores for all we know. We know nothing about the guy. Does he even own a home?

A 3 generation burden including his own as a bass player weighs on Wolfgang Van Halen's shoulders. Now he’s an independent artist with his upcoming solo record he will make more than a few bucks.

Just hope Wolfie isn't partying too much this year. He's 27 now, so he's gotta be careful (at least until next year). That list of 27 year old casualties is too long as it is. Of course growing up with Eddie as his dad, he probably knows better anyway.

I'm assuming it's net, for whatever accuracy the online celebrity net worth estimates are.

Even if 10 million was Wolf's gross, he should still have a few to several million bucks left after taxes.

But, for sure, we know nothing about him in terms of does he own his own home, or what his spending habits are.

I think he's only had a couple, and I believe he has been married to his current wife for quite some time.

Who knows the terms of his divorces, re: did his wives take a lump sum buyout/payoff against attaching future earnings.

Eddie probably made more from his cut on the 'Master Use' license of Jump in Ready Player One than most people here make in a year.

I'd be curious to find out how much - artist usually gets 50% so maybe 1/3 (no Mike) of 50% of $500k as it's the lead song in trailers and so on using the original recording?

Val's on the cover of some mag found at the checkout line...doesn't look like she's friends with Jenny Craig any more.

Found the EVH and Val on Letterman clips on YouTube and I thought she looked impossibly skinny. Then I remember reading the Noel Monk book and figured it was coke skinny.

If you are going to make your living on talk shows talking about how much weight you lost, first of all you have to get fat.

    Rinse, lather, repeat.

I have Val's cookbook. It even has some of Ed's mom's recipes in it. Indonesian stuff. Val has a lot of Italian dishes. Easy to get fat on all that pasta.

Noel Monk: Vallerie Bertinelli is here. She's seems interested in Ed.

Plus a 2 generation burden of alcoholism on one side and mad sporadic amounts of eating cakes on the other.
Nothing the cocaine dealer can't fix. The Van Halen's can afford the good blow.

So when you call that shrink up in Beverly Hills. You know the one, Dr. "Everything'll Be Alright". Instead of asking him how much of your time is left. Ask him how much of your mind baby! Cocaine is a hell of a drug and pass the apple sauce please.

No Mike? Wait a minute! Michael Anthony has ‚Jump' songwriter credit. He holds a 1/4 slice of the cake. Source: https://www.allmusic.com/song/jump-mt0035327653

There seems to be some confusion on this.

Like every other thing to do with this fucking band we have at least one thread on it here.

Sobolewski must be a hell of a character not to sue his former bandmates. Perhaps he agreed and received a flat rate check. No matter what, he made some decent money before 2007:

Bottom line is though that he didn't write the songs and he's not short of money.

From Monk's book I got the impression that Mike was the most down-to-earth and probably was the best with not pissing away the money he made...

He seems happy. He's been married to the same woman a long time. Eddie once said Mike was the family man of the group. Yeah he might have signed his royalties away and missed out of a few million dollars but he seems fine.
