He's a horrible twat and incredibly unpopular.
I think what happened was the first time may have been because the broadcaster thought he was a cunt or maybe he just misspoke but it was widely reported and since then every time he is mentioned part of the reporters brain is saying 'Don't say cunt don't say cunt' and that makes them do it.
It's not that uncommon a name and it doesn't seem to happen with anyone else.
