Nothing new. Alex runs off a formula and applies it to current events. He goes full on crazy now and then to increase the attention on himself and make himself more popular with his product buying base. Someone on the left could use this same formula but you have to be interesting to watch. Most people can't pull that off. It's now easy to be crazy in the right ways and keep it all going. Alex is a master of it.

Yeah but he managed to build a sizable media establishment from a cable access show. I'm sure Alex loved it when Hillary Clinton slagged him during the presidential campaign. A stupid move by Hillary because that just made Infowars more relevant. Now with large internet companies going after him it does the same thing. Some smaller outfits will host Infowars and they will target that type of audience and grow. So I guess that means social media and video hosting sites are going the way of cable news networks. It will be interesting to see what happens. Like I said, if Hillary and others just ignored Alex Jones he would be a lot smaller than he is now. People just don't get it.

I would say Alex Jones was libertarian but now he's drifted more into right wing Republican territory. Probably because that's where the money is. Rush Limbaugh has played that market the longest and seems to be doing well still. Alex is far from being the professional broadcaster Rush Limbaugh is but the right wing is a gold mine that has made several political commentators rich. Quite a list. On the left you have Rachel Maddow on the cable networks. She's the Sean Hannity of the left. Then you have the Young Turks on the internet. I believe Cenk Ungar was on MSNBC at one time. Rachel came from Radio America and maybe Cenk did too. There just is good money to be made covering politics if you can manage to build an audience for yourself. Alex of course is the most colorful of the bunch. Maybe Glenn Beck would still be around if he remained a Morning Zoo guy but he seemed to want to be a pseudo college professor or Jesus Christ. He kind of blew himself out. Oh well. Good riddins.

Rush used to do entertaining radio. In the 90s he was still right wing as all Hell, but it was basically comedy. I could listen to him and laugh about it. Then the oxycontin ate his brain and it became all hate all the time.

Rachel Maddow and Sean Hannity have virtually nothing in common (aside from both being well paid employees of corporate media). Rachel is a Rhodes scholar. Hannity is an idiot. Rachel definitely has a "Democratic" spin (unfortunately, more in the DLC/Hillbot camp) but she's based in facts, while Hannity starts with the right wing spin and goes hysterically beyond there. Which is why Cheeto loves him.

The Young Turks were around for many years before Cenk's short lived run at MSNBC. They were on Air America for a while also, but were independent of that network (i.e. not controlled by the Hillary/DLC narrative) which is why their show survived the demise of that network, due to mismanagement at the hands of Hillary shill Mark Green. Cenk was dismissed from MSNBC because he refused to kiss the "Democratic" establishment ass... much like Keith Olberman & Phil Donahue were. Both the Young Turks & Olbermann soon moved on to Current TV, but sadly that network was eventually bought up by Al Jazeera, and the new owners wanted to start over with a clean slate and run all straight news shows as opposed to the news/opinion format. None of which helped them get a better placement of their channel with the US cable monopolies, and eventually AJ America failed because nobody who didn't want to pay $200/month for cable tv could actually watch it. Ironically the original English language international broadcast version of Al Jazeera continues to do well with online viewers, though still ignored by the cable industry. TYT also is doing very well, and now has their own channel on YouTube TV, and is reportedly in negotiations with other cord-cutter services like Sling, Playstation Vue, etc.

Perhaps if Alex had reigned it in with the slanderous bullshit and the crazy illuminati gay frog shit, he could have been making the same deals, instead of getting himself virtually banished from the internet? At least BecKKK - as crazy as he is - took a chance with his own platform before failing.
