Tsunami set off by volcanic eruption kills 222 in Indonesia
CARITA BEACH, Indonesia (AP) — An eruption of one of the world's most infamous volcanic islands is believed to have triggered a tsunami that killed at least 222 people in Indonesia during a busy holiday weekend. The waves smashed onto beaches at night without warning, ripping houses and hotels from their foundations in seconds and sweeping terrified concertgoers into the sea.
More than 800 people were injured and dozens more missing after the tsunami hit around the Sunda Strait at 9:27 p.m. Saturday, the Disaster Management Agency said. The toll could continue to rise because some areas had not yet been reached.

Mount Etna eruption causes airspace closure
The Mount Etna volcano erupted on Monday, spewing ash as several minor earthquakes hit the region, and prompting a partial closure of the Sicilian airspace around the mountain.
Italy's national institute for geophysics and vulcanology (INGV) counted more than 130 seismic shocks in the zone, with the strongest reaching a magnitude of 4.0.
"The eruption occurred on the side of Etna," Boris Behncke, a vulcanologist at INGV, told AFP. "It's the first lateral eruption in more than 10 years, but it doesn't seem to be dangerous."
At the end of March a study published in the Bulletin of Volcanology said that Etna is slowly sliding towards the Mediterranean—at a constant pace of 14 millimetres per year.

Sicily’s Mount Etna is one of the world’s most active volcanoes, but scientists say eruptions aren’t the only major threat posed by this smoldering peak.
A new study shows that Etna is slowly sliding toward the sea, raising the prospect that it may suddenly collapse and trigger a massive tsunami that could devastate the region around the eastern Mediterranean Sea.
“Etna is a big and heavy volcano, so gravity is pulling it down,” Morelia Urlaub, a research scientist at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research in Kiel, Germany, and the study’s lead author, told NBC News MACH in an email. “It can spread more easily towards the sea as there is nothing to 'stop' it.”

Tsunami death toll in Indonesia crosses 400; officials warn that second giant sea wave is possible
Scores of people were killed and many more were injured or unaccounted for when a tsunami hit the island nation of Indonesia without warning Sunday following a volcanic eruption and underwater landslides miles offshore.
At least 429 people died, more than 1,400 were injured and another 158 are missing as of Tuesday morning, more than two days after the wave came crashing ashore on the northwest coast of Java, one of the large islands comprising the country, officials said.
The threat did not disappear with the waves themselves, as officials were warning residents and tourists to stay as far away from coastal areas as possible on Monday because continued volcanic eruptions from Mount Anak Krakatau could potentially trigger a second devastating tsunami.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Democrat from New York, called climate change “our World War II” and warned that the world will end in 12 years if we don’t address global warming on Monday.
During an interview Monday at the MLK Now event at Riverside Church in New York with writer Ta-Nehisi Coates, Ocasio-Cortez argued that global warming needs to be addressed immediately to avoid the end of human existence.

He made some money in the 1980s from oil - whatever, a lucky bullshitter. And he is full of shit claiming that he is worth $50 billion by taking the figure from profits of companies that had anyone attend one of his courses. By that logic if John Doe who works at Apple in their mail room goes on a health and safety course the guy that provides it is worth $100 billion. No wonder he likes Trump. If you lived in a castle Scotland and you were a billionaire would you have a business where people had weddings at your home every weekend? Maybe not. I saw a castle for sale here for $750k just this week and he bought his 20 years ago. That wouldn't get you a 1 bedroom apartment in the centre of London.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may be overstating the problem for effect but she is overstating less than the Republican party is understating it. Read your own government agencies reports.
The Republican party is literally the only political party in the world that denies climate change.

Read government agency reports?
1st, let's start with the obvious. Obvious is a way of stating something or viewing something that is clear or easily perceived, without overstating something.
So again,
1st - My government is flat broke and in considerable debt. So if a government agency is creating a report; it's creating debt.
2nd - Money is something that socialists do not accumulate. Socialists end up with money one of two ways: the family has it and passes it on or socialists steal it from someone else.
3rd - Socialists do not create jobs or understand how to manage money. Socialists are always in the unenviable position of having little money and needing money from another source.
Considering these facts, what would a report on the Keating 5 turn up? LOL! I just love poli sci humor. It's nearly as funny as office humor.
Back on topic, which government agency is in charge of global warming? A-Ocasio-C isn't overstating for some effect shesh. A-Ocasio-C wants money we don't have to start to resolve global warming. A-Ocasio-C is fortunate to know a number all the other computer models weren't able to produce.

Without overstating the obvious...
A remarkably accurate global warming prediction, made in 1972
John Stanley (J.S.) Sawyer was a British meteorologist born in 1916. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1962, and was also a Fellow of the Meteorological Society and the organization's president from 1963 to 1965.
A paper authored by Sawyer and published in the journal Nature in 1972 reveals how much climate scientists knew about the fundamental workings of the global climate over 40 years ago. For example, Sawyer predicted how much average global surface temperatures would warm by the year 2000.
"The increase of 25% CO2 expected by the end of the century therefore corresponds to an increase of 0.6°C in the world temperature – an amount somewhat greater than the climatic variation of recent centuries."
Remarkably, between the years 1850 and 2000, atmospheric carbon dioxide levels did increase by very close to 25 percent, and global average surface temperatures also increased by just about 0.6°C during that time.
Sawyer also discussed several other important aspects of the Earth's climate in his paper. For example, he addressed the myth and misunderstanding that as a trace gas in the atmosphere, it may seem natural to assume that rising levels of carbon dioxide don't have much impact on the climate. Sawyer wrote,
"Nevertheless, there are certain minor constituents of the atmosphere which have a particularly significant effect in determining the world climate. They do this by their influence on the transmission of heat through the atmosphere by radiation. Carbon dioxide, water vapour and ozone all play such a role, and the quantities of these substances are not so much greater than the products of human endeavour that the possibilities of man-made influences may be dismissed out of hand."A NATION OF COWARDS - Jeffrey R.
