    Rock army

    ROCK ARMY ????

    Why not change the name & theme of this site from Roth Army to Rock Army.....

    Only need to change 2 letters..."th" to "ck"....& keep everything else the same as it is.

    The idea is to open it up to include ALL rock fans....kind of a one stop all inclusive rock forum....

    Every band from A to Z would have their own thread....

    Want to chat about Aerosmith or AC/DC.....Cheap Trick or Jeff Beck....Stevie Ray Vaughan or Rob Zombie.....

    No problemo....each artist will have their own thread.....

    I personally only joined up with this site & the VH Links because VH is mainly the only band I cared enough to actually sign up & join.....

    I did recently join the KISS Faq Forum but only made 1 post so far last year....I keep forgetting my password...& it's a hassle to submit the email to reset it....as they wouldn't let me use my regular password....which is easy to remember....

    I'm not going to join a Judas Priest fan forum but there's times I'm kicking back at home rocking out & think to myself...this Judas Priest show I'm watching from Montreal 1984 is just so freakin killer....I want to post the video & recommend other fellow rock fand watch Sinner....as it struck me as being an absolutly killer version....& deadly bootleg....

    Just think.....even if David quit & became solo again...


    Would there be enough fans to justify the site for David???

    I'm thinking this site kicked ass because it served a purpose for many many years....before 2007!!!

    After 2007.....now the main objective & overall purpose of the site ( as I see it...I know probably means many different things to different people...)....

    But for me- Now Daves back in VH...over 10 years now...so shouldnt it have changed to a VH site???

    The Roth fans posted like crazy because they had a unified purpose....to show support for VH with Dave.....

    Now that purpose has been fufilled....

    Almost all those old regulars have drifted off.....

    BUT- If you switch gears turning this forum into an all inclusive ROCK ARMY....

    Then it could be super busy & fun alive with new stuff to read....

    Just look at Ultimateclassicrock.com...
    .they have new short stories & rock updates every day...but NO comment section....

    You could turn this site into a hybrid....part Ultimateclassicrock....part Steve Hoffman Forums.
    ....& part Guitars101...

    Or something like that.....

    Just an idea that popped into my head now......

      You want to take it on and change the name I'm fine with that?

      I dunno the brand thing is what it is, there is nothing to stop anyone posting about anything.

      There are already threads here about Aerosmith, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Rob Zombie.

      I'm very open to suggestions at this point, it's not a bad idea and we have discussed doing something similar before.

      Rockarmy.com is already owned though...

          Why change purposes, up to the name of this place, really? What's the use? Just create another board...

          There's already a music forum here where you can post about anything related to music, and you can also post just about anything except dicks in the whole site, which is a quite a lot of fields left.

          No offence, but I think it's a very bad idea, BF.

            The unique branding here is fully established, which is something with extremely limited potential of gaining anywhere on the internet with a bulletin board/forum based site. That realm is far from dead but it's not for the faint of heart nor a light in the wallet venture to successfully host one... It's just tough to get the numbers competing against the social media giants in this space.

            We have a very diverse and well informed musical interest base among the members here. Adding additional content beyond Roth/VH has always been here and would still be a very welcome compliment to the site's core content. I would encourage anyone who has the interest and time to contribute in any subject area we have. If you have ideas on how to add to the wealth of info we've built over the last almost 2 decades, damn... please share, publicly or privately with any of the staff.

              On the face of it, it isn't a bad idea...

              Until you read what Sesh, Jerome and ZahZoo have mentioned in terms of pitfalls.

              I mean, I suppose it is a good thing that somebody is thinking of how to increase membership or participation levels: it's not exactly betraying a secret to state that the site now doesn't have nearly the amount of posting frequency from a wide swath of membership as it did 15 years ago. Which isn't to finger blame - if there is any blame to be had - or whatever: it just is what is now, probably for a large amount of reasons I can think of (and an even larger number of reasons I can't).

              I'll be fucked if I can offer anything substantive that would result in bringing the site back to its heyday. If I'm being honest about it, the only reason I'm still active here is due to the dozen-odd long timers who still post regularly/semi-daily here, because I still enjoy reading what they have to say and the interaction. It really has little to do with whatever Roth or Van Halen are up to at this point (which kind of makes sense, because their lack of activity isn't exactly a drawing feature to this site).

              I suppose the site could be changed to a general, all-inclusive, rock-oriented site. I tend to doubt that would really make a meaningful difference in increasing member traffic, because - as mentioned by Zah and Jerome - it would eliminate whatever cache is left re: the uniqueness of the rotharmy brand, and the general site would just be one of what I'd imagine were thousands of other such general rock sites. Again, though, were that change to be made, it'd be the membership itself that would draw me rather than the site orientation.

                The all eras of music forum has been tried and is gone. That forum was way too big.
                Writing In All Proper Case Takes Extra Time, Is Confusing To Read, And Is Completely Pointless.

                    True I believe it was already tried by some people who left here.

                    This is like a tennis club where some old timers still sit talking shit at the bar but no one plays tennis anymore and the carpet really should be changed at some point as it's got a bit sticky and there are some bloodstains.

                    People drive past and look in and feel good that the place is still there but don't have time to go in because they are rushing to post a gif of a cat being fucked by a goat on Facebook or bringing up kids or dying or some other shit.

                    You find yourself realizing it was never really about the tennis in the first place.

                        Sometimes you can see sparks from the pasture flying around here. I enjoy these moments. Changing the name of the site? Yeah...change "Graceland" into "Rock'n'Roll-Mansion" and turn the backyard into a public cemetery. Fuck you for even thinking about it!

                        This site perfectly mirrors the state of the band. It will go down with the band one day. In a flash...or fade away. Let's fucking leave it this way.

                        ...just imagine having a thread about "Sammy Hagar" under "S"
