Former Sen. Claire McCaskill ("D"-Mo.) has joined NBC News and MSNBC as a political analyst, per an announcement on "Morning Joe" Tuesday morning.

“I’m looking forward to bringing my experience from the Senate, hard fought campaigns, and Midwest common sense to the coverage of breaking political events. And, as always, I won’t hold back,” McCaskill said in a statement.

The former two-term senator also tweeted out a photo early Tuesday morning of her arriving at Manhattan's Rockefeller Center for her first day of work.

In her new role, McCaskill will provide political analysis on NBC and MSNBC. She'll also take part in MSNBC's coverage of President Trump's State of the Union address on Jan. 29 in the House chamber.

McCaskill lost her Senate seat to Republican challenger Josh Hawley, a former state attorney general, by about 6 points.
