Trump's Approval Number at 52% Despite Non Stop Negative Press (Fake News)

Trump's approval rating among likely voters soars to his best in 23 MONTHS at 52 per cent after State of the Union address as border-wall shutdown talks intensify

Rasmussen Reports poll as Trump at 52 per cent approval, his best showing in 23 months and a higher number than his winning edge in 2016
Significant up-swing since government-shutdown low of 43 per cent
New numbers were collected in the three days immediately following State of the Union address
Asked what Monday's number mean, a senior Democratic House aide confided on background: 'I don't know yet if it's horrible, but it sure isn't good'
Polling average is just 42.4 per cent, including mostly those surveys that are open to all Americans; Rasmussen polls only 'likely voters'

Assmussen IS "fake news". Why don't you post the far more reliable Gallup numbers?

There is so much garbage statistics out there and sadly big decisions are made on garbage. It's very difficult to get the sampling right especially when dealing with something that deals with human psychology like politics or marketing. It's much easier to sample scientific data from physical measurements than it is to sample things dealing with emotions and opinions. That's why many polls tend to be wrong regarding elections. Really approval numbers mean nothing. It's going to be difficult to beat Trump in 2020. I'm not seeing anyone who can beat him. Trump has basically won over the Republicans finally and it's his party and he's going to go into 2020 stronger than he did when he ran the first time. As crazy as politics has become maybe Michelle Obama might give Trump a run for his money. For whatever reason people on the left seem to like her and she doesn't come across as a crazy loon.

Oddly enough Howard Schultz could be a bigger contender than people think but Howard has to connect with middle America like Trump was able to do. Trump proved a New Yorker who never spends any time in middle America can win it over. Reagan was also able to do that. The Gipper never hung with the average working class American. He was hanging with the Bel Air set but he was able to make a connection. So it's not impossible that Howard Schultz could do the same but a Jew from the projects in Brooklyn grew up in a different world than Festes in Dun Geep, Iowa. The big costal cities are owned by the Democrats and you got to make your mark in fly over country. So Howard is wasting his time in Seattle and those type of places. He's got to connect with Joe Six Pack and sell Joe he's better than Trump. If he runs Trump will be who he's going to have to take votes from. The Democrats worrying that Howard Schultz is going to be a spoiler and give the election to Trump don't get the dynamic. The Democrats who don't like the far left candidates will just stay home and not bother to vote. Whoever runs against Trump has their solid backing that Trump has no hope in hell of ever taking so if someone like Howard Schultz runs and he connects more with the people in the middle who voted for Trump he becomes a Trump spoiler and if he plays a decent political game in today's political climate there is a slight chance an independent can win the presidency.

50% of the Democratic voters "stayed home" in 2016 because they rigged the primary for a useless right wing corporatist cunt (who had already lost the previous election). Those are the voters that the Democratic party needs to reach. Let the Republicans fight between the corporatists and the fringe Nazi lunatics in their own party, and keep it out of mine.

And "middle America" isn't going to vote for a billionaire who thinks $6 is an appropriate price for a cup of coffee.

After 2016, could anyone blame a person for perhaps not putting as much stock in poll numbers as they perhaps previously had?

I mean, Trump's poll numbers may well be 52% among likely voters. May be a few points less. May go right back down to the low 40s when Trump supporters have to file extensions en masse with the IRS for tax payments they can't make vs. previous years when they got a small refund: the political paternity test for THAT is an easy one (hint: responsibility for it doesn't lie with the democratic party).

The figures I watch are the FiveThirtyEight ones who use aggregates of all the polls and seem to be the most accurate. I was following them closely at the last election and they gave Trump a 28% chance of winning. People somehow translated that in their heads as them saying Clinton had won already.

At the moment they are showing Trump at 40% approval and he's been around that for ages although he did take a bit of a hit from the shutdown.

It's very easy to have shitty poll data these days and companies like Rasmussen actually seem to do it deliberately with an inbuilt bias. For example if you use an automated system calling voters at home during the day on landline numbers how representative of the population are the people that respond to that?

Only in high taxed states like NY, NJ & CA... who weren't exactly Trump supporters to begin with.

Recent stats show people leaving those states in record numbers. Can't blame them for not wanting to live with years of sky-high democratic tax rates and wealth redistribution nonsense. The rest of the nation will be enjoying a noticeably smaller tax bill come April...

Not from me. My taxes are done as of last night. Getting back almost exactly to the penny the amount I got last year- not to mention the extra 2k in my paychecks all year long.

Paying less taxes means you get smaller refunds

"Of course refunds are down. People are paying less in taxes and the code is simplified. A refund means you overpaid and got money back. When you pay less the refund will be less.

Do you really not understand that?"

Why are you quoting a douchebag who is even dumber than his bloated Orange daddy, and has paid even less taxes ever in his life, considering he's never had a job?

As opposed to your avatar of a communist loser who's never had a real, long term job in his life.

I feel it's safe to say that every citizen, of any country, will either die or age past their ability to earn an income that contributes to tax collections long before any money borrowed by their home country during their lifetime is paid for...

No one lies on their death bed worrying that the national debt won't get paid due to their passing... nor does their government give it a second of consideration...

None of it really matters in the long run.

So fine to borrow to give billionaires tax cuts but not to for healthcare, education or infrastructure.
    It’s an odd approach...

Not sure I follow that logic... one doesn't borrow to give tax cuts or simply put... reduce revenue. The term "giving" in this case is inaccurate. The correct term is taking less of what wasn't the governments money to begin with.

One borrows when their spending exceeds their incoming revenue source... if they want to stay in business.

Actually I thought the argument for tax cuts is that they supposedly create more revenue because billionaires reinvest their extra money back into their business, etc. It's like when a magic fairy comes in and puts change under your pillow if you put a severed tooth there! It's a win win!

Recent stats show people leaving those states in record numbers. Can't blame them for not wanting to live with years of sky-high democratic tax rates and wealth redistribution nonsense. The rest of the nation will be enjoying a noticeably smaller tax bill come April...
Don't forget Illinois. Another basket case.

I don't mind paying taxes if it goes towards something useful like bridges, roads (road that actually go some place), dams and stuff that helps the country be more productive. I can't stand paying taxes and then watch the government waste it on stupid shit. We spend $6 trillion in Iraq alone accomplishing nothing except making the military industrial complex rich and our infrastructure is falling apart here. So until the government get's it's shit together it doesn't need any more money from us.

You mean the states that give vastly more to the Federal Treasury than your deadbeat, shithole hick Red states? The ones that take the Federal welfare because they have such shitty infrastructure?

You sir are a moron. Bet you cried your eyes out when Trump called all those countries "shitholes".
