Ozzy Osbourne has revealed he's been diagnosed with Parkinson's

Ozzy Osbourne has revealed he's been diagnosed with Parkinson's in an emotional interview alongside wife Sharon.

The 71-year-old rocker said he couldn't hide his health woes any longer after suffering from debilitating nerve pain that left him with numbness down one arm and his legs going cold.

In a sit down interview with Good Morning America, Ozzy admitted he'd spent the last year in constant pain, describing it as the most 'miserable time of his life.'

The Black Sabbath star said his problems started when he suffered a fall at home last April and underwent surgery.

He said doctors were unsure whether it was the fall or the surgery that led to the downward spiral.

Ozzy fought back tears as he revealed his Parkinson's diagnosis

Ozzy said he wanted to speak out after it was falsely reported he was on his 'death bed' and he felt guilty about not being honest with his fans.

"It has been terribly challenging for us," Ozzy began. "I had to have surgery on my neck which screwed all my nerves. I found out that I have a mild form of...."

As Ozzy struggled to finish his sentence, wife Sharon continued: "It's Parkin 2 which is a form of Parkinson's. There are so many different types of Parkinson's.

"It's not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination but it does effect the nerves in your body. It's like you'll have a good day, then a good day and then a really bad day," she explained.

Ozzy continued: "A year ago I was in a terrible state. I'm on a host of medication, mainly for the surgery.

"I've got numbness down this arm and my legs are going cold. I don't know if it's the Parkinson's or what. That's the problem."

Sharon said she was supporting her husband of almost 40 years throughout his treatment

Sharon Osbourne won't be spending Christmas with Ozzy for first time in 40 years
Ozzy and Sharon, who have been married 38 years, said they've exhausted medical options in the United States and plan to travel to Switzerland in April to speak to a specialist on the condition.

"We're going to go wherever we can go to find answers," Sharon said defiantly.

"We're lucky we can afford to do that," added Ozzy.

The lead singer of Black Sabbath said he'd found it difficult to not be open with his loyal fan base about his struggles, adding that he was 'no good at secrets.'

"I cannot walk around with it anymore. It's like I'm running out of excuses.

'I feel better now that I have owned up to the fact that I have a case of Parkinson's," he said.

Brave Ozzy opened up about how the disease had impacted his health
Sharon said it was the longest Ozzy had not worked in his life and he was raring to get back out on the road again.

"That's whats killing me. I need it you know- that's my drug," lamented Ozzy, but added: "I ain't going anywhere yet."

It was first reported Ozzy had suffered a fall at the family home last April which led to him cancelling his world tour.

Recalling the terrifying incident, Ozzy said: "When I had the fall it was pitch black, I went to the bathroom and I fell. I just fell and landed like a slam on the floor and I remember lying there thinking, "Well, you’ve done it now," really calm."

He said Sharon called an ambulance and 'after that it was all down hill.'

Actually the Prince of Darkness looks pretty good at 71. He looks a lot better than that Hagar guy. At least Ozzy knows how to dress decent and his wife probably is responsible for that. Oh well. Sorry to hear about the Parkinson's. Bottom line. If you have family and a few friends who still love you at the end of the day that's what matters. Everyone's health goes at some time. My dad dealt with Parkinson's in the last part of his life.

Luckily he was wearing his Life Alert Necklace. Help was on the way.

Uh-huh, yeah. Not like he has been a fuck-up his entire life. Not like years of alcohol, cocaine, meth, weed, heroin and Sharon's pussy had anything to do with it. Slozzy was lucky, I'll give him that. Any one could have sung in Sabbath - including you cretin's favorite homoerotic fantasy Roth and they still would have been just as successful. So Slozzy is all Micheal J Fox now (only Fox nailed a much better looking wife but had creepy-as-fuck looking children all the same). You cannot do that many drugs and fucking romanticize them as Slozzy did and expect to have normal brain tissue function well into his AARP years. No wonder all these rock stars of your cretin generation look and sound like absolute shit. Few of them aged well at all.

What a half-ass pussy looks like

He was always a F A T bag of shit who what, was severely traumatized as a child and could never deal with his demons like a rational human being. Never understood the appeal of this asshole, too. Monotonous voice, greedy, horrible parent and paraded himself as the "fucking Prince of Darkness" he was nothing more than a sham. Maybe now he'll quit touring and singing for good and make the world a better place after all.

Ozzy has seemed...befuddled for about 20 years now. Assumed it was whatever meds he was taking, or boozing it up here and there, or just the cumulative effects of his lifestyle. Who knows, perhaps some of it was early signs of undiagnosed Parkinson's.

Honestly, it's sort of surprising that Ozzy is still alive, regardless of the Parkinson's diagnosis.

If he wants to keep going, far as touring goes, God bless. The missus had said last year (I think, or maybe it was the year before) when Ozzy was scheduled to come to our area that she would like to see him perform, only because she never had. I sorta said "yeah, yeah" then kinda hoped she'd forget about it...mostly because Ozzy is just...he's just way past it. Then Ozzy cancelled the tour, so obviously we didn't end up getting tickets. But Ozzy and Sabbath had come through on their final tour a few years ago or whatever it was now, and I just couldn't bring myself to go to that, either, for the same reason I didn't particularly want to go see Ozzy's most recent solo tour...I suppose it was because I was lucky enough to have seen Ozzy twice in the 1980s that I really didn't feel some 'bucket list' need to see him more recently.

But if he wants to keep touring, and people want to see it, why not? It'd probably be better for him than sitting around, doing nothing, taking meds and waiting for the Parkinson's to get worse: least if he is on the road performing he has some sense of purpose.

It seems like Sharon is determined to work Ozzy until he drops dead, but Ozzy keeps going along with it, so I assume he must still enjoy performing.

I bought $200 worth of Ozzy tickets so long ago I'm now viewing it as money in a long term no interest saving account.

At the moment it's meant to be October over 2 years since I bought them but if he's not miming it's not going to be great judging by his speaking voice never mind his singing.

Sharon has parlayed the Osbournes gig into her own little career beyond managing Ozzy. Probably doesn't need Ozzy's money now. I thought it was funny when she said he's gotta get back out on the road because he's driving her mad.

Manson is opening, I wouldn't mind seeing him but I don't want to sit through Ozzy's set.

My dad had it. He served during the Korean War and experienced some nasty stuff in his younger years and he told me getting old was not for the faint of heart. Probably why I actually felt glad Neal Peart passed on pretty quick. That beats spending years in agony waiting for the enviable death to come along. One of the drawbacks of modern medicine is it prolongs the life of people who are sick and they might get an extra ten years but it ain’t a quality ten years. Of course nobody has any easy answer for that dilemma. Do you treat human life as disposable by not helping the person live longer or do you open Pandora’s box of deciding who lives and who dies. We don’t play God too well and medicine has gotten to where we have to make those kinds of decisions.

Hey I've been a fan since I was a kid but it is strange when you think about how by his mid 30s he had recorded just about everything significant he was going to and then the second half of his life was just repeating that.

That of course is not so uncommon among rock artists, the unusual bit with Ozzy is that apart from a little dip in the 90s he got bigger and bigger.

Pretty much by the time Diary Of A Madman was released, that capped off the best of Ozzy's career. Perhaps somewhere between a 1/2 dozen and a dozen good tunes total after Diary.

Were I to see Ozzy and the setlist was comprised solely of material from Sabbath's first album to Diary, I wouldn't feel letdown in the least.

He's done setlists like that even in the last decade where 95% of the songs were from the first 1/4 of his career.

I'm fine with that, my problem is him not giving credit or payment to Bob Daisley.

I'm fine with that, my problem is him not giving credit or payment to Bob Daisley.

Yeah, Daisley ultimately got screwed over the long run in terms of payment: attentive fans know what Daisley did in terms of constructing the songs, but who cares how many people know that if you don't get paid for it?

Having said that, I always thought it a bit weird that Daisley kept going back and working with Ozzy post-Diary through the No More Tears album: even though Daisley said he made sure post-Diary that whenever he worked with Ozzy he got his performance credit/payments for the albums, it's still bizarre that one would even go back and work once with someone who screwed you over...never mind over multiple albums...and he did the BATM tour.

But Ozzy himself always sort of gets a pass regarding the mercenary approach Sharon took toward Daisley, Kerslake, Jake E. Lee - and who knows how many other members of Ozzy's various solo lineups - and the business/financial shenanigans regarding songwriting credits and payments. Ozzy has often claimed that he doesn't get involved in the business side of rock and roll, doesn't want to know about it, etc. But Ozzy was taking the money appropriated by Sharon that should have went to the players, so...in for a penny, in for a pound. The general consensus seems to be that Ozzy has been fucked up for so long that one can't blame him for what Sharon did, but I don't quite buy into that.

I mean, how bizarre is it that Ozzy now has sole songwriting credit (for music and lyrics) for the Bark At The Moon album? Ozzy couldn't play a guitar to save his life. At least Jake E. Lee came to his senses relatively early in the game - compared to Daisley, anyway- in terms of realizing the screwing he was getting financially and royalty-wise.

I agree with all of that and Daisley going back repeatedly seems weird unless you think of it it terms of just surviving as a jobbing bass player. Pride doesn't pay the bills and for a lot of the time he probably thought it was Don Arden screwing him over rather than Sharon. I remember reading a panicked letter by Bob Daisley in the premier UK rock magazine Kerrang way back in the late 80s where he tried to step back an interview the previous week saying he had written all the lyrics on the first 2 albums. I don't know the figures but I would guess they would give him set 5 figure fees for his subsequent work and he just couldn't turn that down in the late 80s early 90s.

Usually with these 80s bands the fighting is about scraps, people trying to live in their middle ages from what's left of money that the record company screwed them over at the time. What annoys me most about the Daisley Osbourne dispute is that not only was 95% of his subsequent musical career based on the Daisley stuff they made a second and third fortune in the last 20 years. They are now worth upwards of $200 million!! What sort of weird psycho cunt wouldn't give Daisley and Kerslake a few million of that???

The same kind of psycho that shits in a hotel lobby while screaming 'I WANT THAT WAITRESS SACKED' because she won't serve your semi-comatose husband another drink?

She's a fucking monster pretending to be Tweetie Pie's lovable owner. She is just about the only person I shout at the TV at.

Yeah, I suppose. First time I saw Daisley play was live at the Providence Civic Center on the BATM tour to a crowd of 15k. Next time I saw him play was in 1987 in Gary Moore's band at a Providence club called The Living Room to a crowd of 500. So clearly continuing to work with Ozzy in the 1980s - even after getting ousted from the lineup after Diary was recorded - was probably more lucrative than most other options Daisley had at the time.

The funny thing is, the more influence Sharon exerted over Ozzy's career, the lamer Ozzy became. My impression is that Sharon was initially working with Ozzy in the late 1970s as sort of a minder for her father Don Arden's management interests, during a period where Ozzy was fairly uncontrollable in terms of his behavior. From everything I've read, Sharon had little to no input on the first two Ozzy solo albums in terms of musical/creative content or in terms of who was tapped to play in the band at that point. Once Sharon split from her father and got control of Ozzy's contract and became Ozzy's manager, right around the time Ozzy was touring the Diary Of A Madman album, you saw the glitz slowly start to seep in. I mean, by the time The Ultimate Sin was released, the music sounded like it was following the mid-1980s American hair metal template by design and 'Vegas Ozzy' was the image of the day.

I would say Ozzy has been fortunate to have in his wife a manager who was/is ruthless in terms of putting Ozzy's interests first, even if in part because Ozzy's financial interests directly affected her own financial interests. As to the lengths Sharon went to at times... well, there's different ways of doing business. People have to be able to live with themselves...the thing with that is there are plenty of people out there who will screw anybody and everybody over at the drop of a hat to further their own interests (or just because they get off on being assholes) and sleep perfectly fine at night. Doubtless, if she ever even thinks about Daisley at all, Sharon thinks of him as 'the help': he served a purpose decades ago, he should feel lucky he was allowed the privilege to work with Ozzy (rather than thinking of Daisley - and Randy Rhoads - as two guys who helped salvage Ozzy's post-Black Sabbath career by writing the vast bulk of the material on those two first solo albums) and if anything Daisley was OVERPAID the first time around because of said privilege.

Makes you wonder what Sharon would be saying about Randy Rhoads today had Rhoads not died, instead quit Ozzy's band and went on to sue the Osbournes for unpaid record royalties. [The Osbournes] would have Jake E. Lee'd Rhoads, too.

Maybe Randy had a bit too much in the way of pills, potions and/or powders re: post-gig celebration one night, and in a hazy blur threw Sharon a one-off pity fuck because Ozzy was passed out.

And now the North American tour is canceled...

Ozzy Osbourne Cancels North American ‘No More Tours 2’ Dates Due to Illness

Ozzy Osbourne has canceled the upcoming North American leg of his No More Tours 2 as he seeks treatment for health setbacks. Early last year, the singer suffered a fall that required surgery, sidelining him from touring. Earlier this year, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

“I’m so thankful that everyone has been patient because I’ve had a shit year,” Osbourne said in a statement. “Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get to Switzerland for treatment until April and the treatment takes six to eight weeks. I don’t want to start a tour and then cancel shows at the last minute, as it’s just not fair to the fans. I’d rather they get a refund now and when I do the North American tour down the road, everyone who bought a ticket for these shows will be the first ones in line to purchase tickets at that time.”

Full refunds, including fees, will be available at the point of purchase. Those who had bought tickets to the tour will get first access when rescheduled dates go on sale.

The North American leg of the trek was set to kick off on May 27th in Atlanta and run through a July 31st gig in Las Vegas. A European leg is still on the books and will kick off in Newcastle, England on October 23rd; the cancellation does not affect these dates.

The timing for the cancelled U.S. dates is unfortunate, as Osbourne is in the midst of promoting a new album, Ordinary Man, which comes out Friday. He still has an in-store signing at Amoeba Hollywood planned for that day, as well as a tattoo-parlor takeover on Thursday, where fans will get to hear the album in full while receiving an Ozzy-inspired tattoo.

Ordinary Man features a star-studded group of collaborators including Elton John, Post Malone, and members of Guns N’ Roses, Rage Against the Machine, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Post Malone’s producer, Andrew Watt, helmed the record and played guitar on it. Osbourne recently explained at a SiriusXM event in Los Angeles that making the record with Watt was therapeutic for him. “I’d been feeling like fucking death,” he said. “And Andrew was a shining light for me.”
